From Jennifer Heinze April 24, 2009 |

Hello! I often say I have the best job in the school! I am able to walk through each class in the school every day to see the marvelous class projects, activities, drama, music, art--too much to list!--that happens EVERY DAY at Saint Paul Lutheran School!
I'd like to take you along with me once in awhile, so that you can enjoy all the things that kids, teachers, and loving volunteer helpers do together to make this such a great place for kids, and for learning. Here we go!

PreK FUN! Cleanup on Aisle 7! Walk into the PreK lobby and you'll see: a bank, a checkout counter, little shoping carts, and all sorts of "merchandise for sale." It's GROCERY STORE time! Student are having a great time learning the finer points of choosing healthy foods, paying for their groceries, and navigating the carts through narrow aisles. Students take turns being the "shoppers" or the "workers" so that, soon, they'll be able to help their parents at home with this important task!

Road Trips!
7th and 8th grade students boarded the coach at 5:30am last Friday, and set off for a whirlwind tour of Springfield, IL. They visited sites like Lincoln's Tomb, the capital buidling, the Lincoln Museum, and New Salem Village to learn about history where it was made!
Never ones to stand by while others have fun, the 6th graders went on a Road Trip of their own! It was a beautiful day to Walk to the Lattof YMCA to particpate in Team-Building and Rock Climbing activities. This annual trip is underwritten entirely by a member of the congregation who has a love for kids and a love for adventures---like Rock Climbing! THANK YOU, friends of Saint Paul School!

WALCAMP
At the beginning of April, the 5th Graders went to Walcamp in Kingston, IL, for Outdoor Education. They had a blast! Four days and three nights of learning and fun in the wilderness of God's creation! (Well, they DID have cabins to sleep in...) We missed the kids while they were away, but the third and fourth graders ruled the hallway, and they look forward to their chance to camp when their year comes. THANKS to Mr. Young, classroom teacher, and Mrs. Harvey, teacher-chaperone, who made this a great experience for the kids!

K-2 News
Spring has Sprung!
Spring is the time for changes...we're watching the weather! The students in K-2 are doing all types of activities to track, measure, and describe the weather, integrating math, science, reading, literature, Bible stories, art, and more!
The 1st graders are busy working with their 4th grade reading buddies in the computer room as they learn together about weather. And check out the fabulous Earth Day artwork in the entire K-1-2 hallway!
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.

| Enrollment Underway for Next Fall
Acceptance letters for the 2009-2010 academic year have been mailed, but we still are accepting enrollment applications for grade levels with openings. If you know of a family who might be interested in a Christian education for their preschool through eighth grade children, please encourage them to call the school at 847-255-6733 to set up an appointment to visit or to obtain more information. God has blessed us greatly and we want to spread that blessing to as many others as possible. Our graduates do well in high school in all venues: academic, athletic, and fine arts. Help us let Christ's light shine into more lives. Encourage your friends and neighbors to give us a call.
