Battling to Save and Change Lives through Innovation: October 21, 1986 - October 21, 2011

25 years ago today ICL began waging a battle against the ravaging consequences of untreated and under-treated serious mental illness. From ICL's inception  determination, innovation, research and passion have been the driving factors behind ICL's role as one of the nation's foremost leaders in developing new approaches of working with people with serious mental illness.

By pinpointing underserved populations, devising new approaches that incorporate the best and the latest research, constantly reviewing the delivery and impact of services and revising strategies based on careful assessment, ICL is saving and changing lives. Fortunately, we continue to receive incredibly positive attention and support that enables us to continue to blaze new paths.

Our most recent initiatives will help:
  • Over 4,000 Homeless and Underserved in Brooklyn & Queens as ICL HealthCare Choices Becomes a Federally Qualified Health Center and Opens a New Clinic

Support TEAM ICL

What are you doing on November 6th? We're looking for spirited people to support and rally our TEAM ICL runners along as they make their way through the five boroughs during the 2011 ING NYC Marathon. We're pulling together Cheer Stations (and need more volunteers) and are seeking big-hearted and supportive businesses to underwrite participation. To get involved, learn more at support TEAM ICL or email marathon@iclinc.org.

Our fifth and final TEAM ICL runner, Tyric Cuff, brings a different perspective of mental health to a team comprised of experts in the field. "Life has its ups and downs, but music levels it out for me," explains Tyric Cuff, a 24 year-old who lives in a scattered-site apartment in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. After a childhood filled with the unpredictability and instability of six different foster care homes and an emerging serious mental illness, Tyric has accomplished much. Support Tyric's run!
