The Sky Tonight salutes Comic-Con Geekitude with "Astronomy & Science Fiction" July 11!
Mars Happy Face
New resident astronomer Lisa Will goes to Comic-Con every year, and brings a new voice to our monthly live planetarium show, highlighting connections between astronomical objects and popular science fiction. Science fiction is the first contact many people have with space, and many astronomers cite their fascination with it as a motivating factor to enter the profession. The stunning full color visuals and incredibly realistic simulations of cosmic phenomena provided by our state-of-the-art digital GSX™ projection system is sure to provide a great show! Weather permitting, the SD Astronomy Association provides free telescope viewing outdoors on the Prado in Balboa Park. Usually held the first Wednesday of each month, this month we moved it for the July 4 holiday! Arrive early for a new offering, Origami with Bruce Gemmell. More>>
