New Exhibition: "Cellular Journey"
| What is a human cell? What is a stem cell? What purpose do these cells serve? Find the answers to these questions and more at the Fleet's newest exhibition opening this month! Among the interactive exhibits, you can play cellular pinball to launch a "stem cell" on its path to become a specific type of cell. Balboa Park Science Family Day
| Free gallery admission for visitors of all ages from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate the kick-off to the San Diego Science Festival! Meet Joshua Wurman from the popular TV series Storm Chasers and the new IMAX film TORNADO ALLEY. Plus, the DOW (Doppler on Wheels) truck, designed by Wurman, and equipped with a unique mobile radar and weather predication system will be here. The DOW was used in the new IMAX film to observe tornadoes at close range. Now YOU can climb aboard the DOW to see how it works. IMAX films will be discounted to $8.50 each for all ages. Visit the new "Cellular Journey" exhibition to participate in wheat germ DNA extraction. Kids age 5 and under can explore their own fingertips and make a fingerprint picture to take home in "Kid City." More>>

Tornado Thursday: Meet Dr. Karen Kosiba from TORNADO ALLEY
| See a screening of TORNADO ALLEY with a special presentation by the films' storm-chasing meteorologist, Dr. Karen Kosiba. Hear about the T.I.V. - a 16,000 pound armored vehicle that carried the storm-chasers and scientists into tornado territory to capture footage of the birth of a tornado and the most comprehensive weather data ever collected. Tornado Friday: Meet Dr. Richard Alley
| Meet Dr. Richard Alley, one of the world's leading climate researchers and host of the soon-to-be-released mini-series Earth - the Operators' Manual. Dr. Alley will share his experience in making the mini-series and enlighten guests with an "Everyman's Guide" to sustainable energy resources and opportunities. He will also sign copies of his newly released companion book to Earth - the Operators' Manual after each show. Plus, take in a screening of the Fleet's new IMAX film TORNADO ALLEY. More>>

Climate Conversations: "Climate Change and San Diego's Water Supply"

San Diego is literally at the end of the pipe when it comes to water supplies. 80% of San Diego's water is imported. Climate change will likely have a strong impact on the availability of water in San Diego's source regions. Presenter David Pierce, an analyst in the Climate Research Division at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, will describe the effects climate change is likely to have on San Diego's water supply and examine the issues in the context of population growth and water technology development.
