UNDER THE SEA Opens April 1
UNDER THE SEA, a new IMAX® adventure, transports moviegoers to some of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on Earth, including South Australia, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Coral Triangle islands of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. It's an exciting opportunity to experience face-to-face encounters with rarely seen mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea. Colorful marine imagery captivates audiences, as they are transported under the sea on the giant IMAX Dome screen.

Exploring Ethics: "Smart Drugs: How smart are they?"
Smart DrugsThis month's Exploring Ethics program, a partnership with the Center for Ethics in Science and Technology, will examine both the science and ethics of drugs designed to help people be "better than normal" in terms of intelligence, learning ability and memory. Uses of these so called "smart drugs" raise many questions. Esteemed panelists George Koob of The Scripps Research Institute, Veronica Galvan of the University of San Diego, Joan McRobbie of San Diego Unified School District and Mark Trotter, a retired Minister of First United Methodist Church will weigh in.

San Diego Science FestivalThe Fleet Science Center is pleased to participate in the first and largest science festival of its kind on the West Coast. FREE gallery admission, discounted IMAX pricing, and distinguished guest educators will offer special free programming throughout the day. Presentations on "The Science of Magic" with best-selling author, professor, and magician, Bob Friedhoffer, the "Science of the Paranormal" with Dr. Joe Schwarcz and much will be offered to move the mind and explore the impact of science on our lives.

Alien Volcanoes Book Talk
Michael Carroll TritonJoin popular author and science illustrator Michael Carroll on a journey to the most spectacular and terrifying scenes in our solar system. His book Alien Volcanoes reveals late-breaking discoveries throughout the planets with the latest NASA photos and stunning paintings.  Carroll's talk surveys the complete spectrum of volcanoes, from Earthlike cones with molten rock to alien geysers of liquid nitrogen. A book signing will follow the lecture.  Alien Volcanoes will be available for purchase at the North Star Science Store. This program is free with $8.50 admission to a 7, 8 or 9 p.m. IMAX film.

Join the Fleet's education leaders and local researchers to explore the tiny world of Nanotechnology with hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations! Visitors will have the opportunity to build a giant balloon model of a carbon nanotube, explore scale with microscopes and magnifying glasses, and much more!

IMAX en ESPANOL AMAZING JOURNEYS
IMAX En EspanolOn April 19, the Fleet Science Center's monthly "IMAX en Español" film screening will feature AMAZING JOURNEYS. This film presents a breathtaking observation of the migration journeys of several species of animals, exploring one of nature's most fascinating phenomena. In addition to a presentation of IMAX en Español, the Fleet will host UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) for a special screening of La Ley del Cielo, presented in Spanish with English subtitles. This presentation and proceeding Q&A will be in Spanish.

Sunday, April 19: Presentation at 3:30 p.m. and IMAX Film at 6:00 p.m.

Science on the Rocks: "Rock the Solar System"
Science on the RocksThe Fleet's quarterly event for young professionals, with cocktails, music and special themed activities in a fun, relaxed setting is back! Aspiring rock stars are invited to "Rock the Solar System" as they play Guitar Hero® on the Fleet's 76-foot dome screen. Admission also includes entry to the "Giant Worlds" exhibition, fun activities, and two drink tickets.
