Kids Visit Free from September 4-26!

From September 4 to 26, children (ages 12 and under) receive free exhibit gallery admission at the Fleet Science Center! Kids can discover their 'inner inventor' at the new "Tinkering" exhibition or investigate how solar panels produce electricity at "So WATT! An Illuminating Look at Energy," while little ones (ages 5 and under) explore the wonders of the everyday working world at "Kid City." Children must be accompanied by an adult, and chaperone policies apply for groups.

Last Shows on the Original Dome! |
September 3 is your last chance to catch an IMAX film or planetarium show on the Fleet's original dome, before we begin major upgrades and renovations to the Space Theater! Starting September 4, you can get a sneak peek at the changes being made by visiting the Space Theater Renovation Preview Center, located next to the periscope in the theater lobby. You can also follow renovation progress online by visiting our new blog, "Transforming the Space Theater."

This month's Exploring Ethics program examines a major issue from the world of sports. The 2008 Olympics and competitive sports in general pose new ethical dilemmas as more athletes look for means of enhancing their performance. As pharmacology, physiology and technology continue to advance, will we need to redefine what it means to be human? RSVPs are requested for this popular evening lecture series.

Celebrate Innovation at IndepenCIENCIA |
 To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the Fleet will host "IndepenCIENCIA" on Saturday, Sept. 13. Featuring live demonstrations by local Hispanic engineers, traditional toy-making workshops, festival activities, prizes, and performances by Ballet Folklórico, IndepenCIENCIA offers something for everyone.

Yuck! "Animal Grossology" Opens September 27 |
If you thought last year's "Grossology" exhibition was fun, get ready for the slimiest, stinkiest, messiest exhibition ever to hit the Fleet! Opening Saturday, September 27, "Animal Grossology" offers a hands-on, larger-than-life look at nature's blood-sucking, vomit-munching, slime-making and dookie-loving creatures. Be sure to join us on opening day for GrossOlympics II, where kids (ages 6-14) can compete in several ewwy-fun games, including "Hack a Hairball," "Creepy-Crabby Crawl" and the "Mosquitoes Suck! Bugstacle Course!"
