How are we different?

What makes us different from our competitors is that we do not give you a list of facilities to cold call. We research, interview, tour, negotiate cost, and select the best available options for your particular needs.

Testimonial

"I was so impressed on how thorough the interview was without dragging on and on. The questions asked quickly revealed our needs. Your response with places to visit was much faster than I could have hoped for. Any of the three facilities we visited would have been acceptable which proved our needs were heard. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

National Family Caregivers Month

November is National Family Caregivers Month. In the United States alone, there are nearly 15 million Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers. Alzheimer caregivers report that they frequently experience high levels of stress.

Too much stress can be damaging to both a caregiver and the person with Alzheimer's. Taking care of yourself is one of the most important ways to be a healthy caregiver.

Assisted Living Homes Help Seniors With Their Bucket Lists

"We live, we die, and the wheels on the bus go round and round." Those are the famous words of Edward Cole which was the role played by Jack Nicholson in the 2007 movie, The Bucket List. The touching movie was about writing a "bucket list" which contained a list of things he and his friend wanted to do before they died. The main characters of the film that were accomplishing their dreams have inspired the young and old to think about their dreams and find a way to fulfill them. Many seniors are starting to think about their own bucket lists early on so they can accomplish them while they're still relatively active. Many Assisted Living and Senior Marketing companies are channeling their efforts to encourage seniors to make their bucket lists so they consider their old age as a new take on life.

Stages of Dementia

When a loved one is diagnosed with dementia, their family and in home caregiver has to prepare for the unexpected. Like a child's developmental milestones in reverse, dementia never stands still because the chemicals in the brain are changing from moment to moment.

As dementia advances, it diminishes the person's ability to think and interact with the world. A person with dementia will progress from short-term memory lapse to complete loss of function-all in a span of several years. Although there are anticipated stages of dementia, the behaviors that accompany these stages - including confusion, fear, delusions and hallucinations, anger, and decreasing capacity to perform daily functions such as going to the bathroom, eating and sleeping - can differ from day to day.

Quick Memory Tip
Be Attentive

Attention is one of the major components of memory. The most basic memory exercise is to simply tell yourself to remember. The simple step of developing a habit of actively paying attention can save much frustration. If remembering the name of somebody you just meet is an issue - pay attention at the introduction. Listen to the name and repeat it in your memory a number of times. Tell yourself, "remember that". This signals the unconscious mind to rank this input higher in importance.

Elder law is a relative new area in the practice of law, arising from the need of a growing population of senior citizens with specific legal needs. What can an elder law attorney do for your or loved one?

Estate Planning

An elder law attorney assists in estate planning for the management of an estate during life and the disposition after the passing of an individual. Estate planning includes drafting a will, establishing a trust, preparing advance medical directives and preparing powers of attorney, to ease the burden of one's incapacity or passing on their loved ones.
