CETPA prevention projects win EMMY Awards

On Saturday, June 9, 2012 the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Southeast awarded two EMMYs to two CETPA projects.
The first EMMY under the category for Television Programming Excellence: Public/ Current/ Community Affairs was awarded to Nuestra Georgia: Suicide Prevention Special. The Spanish language 30 minute television special aired on Nuestra Georgia, a weekly Spanish language television program on Univision 34 Atlanta.
The program was created by Iban De Miguel, Mariela Romero and Mariden Lord from Univision 34 Atlanta and it featured myself, Adam Lesser from DBHDD and the suicide prevention program members at CETPA headed by Diana Rosado.

The second EMMY under the category of Television Spot Announcements Excellence: Community/ Public Service (PSA)- Single Spot and Campaign was awarded to "CETPA". This PSA was created by Iban De Miguel, Mariden Lord and Montse Mota from Univision 34 Atlanta and Karelis Ferrer and the HEROES youth group from CETPA.
This is the Spanish language Underage Drinking Public Service Announcement that was part of the media campaign of CETPA's SPF SIG grant funded through the DBHDD.

Dos proyectos de CETPA ganan Premios de EMMY

El sábado 9 de junio del 2012 la Academia Nacional de Artes y Ciencias de Televisión (NATAS) Sudeste concedió dos premios EMMY a dos proyectos de CETPA.
El primer EMMY bajo la categoría de Excelencia de la Programación de Televisión: Asuntos Comunitarios fue concedidos a Nuestra Georgia: Especial de Prevención del Suicidio. El especial de televisión de 30 minutos fue presentado en Nuestra Georgia, un programa semanal en la estación local Univisión 34 Atlanta.
El programa fue creado por Mariela Romero, Iban De Miguel y Mariden Lord de Univisión 34 Atlanta y donde fuí entrevistado con Adam Lesser de DBHDD y los miembros de programa de prevención de suicidio de CETPA.
El segundo EMMY bajo la categoría de Excelencia de Anuncios de Televisión: Anuncios de servicio a la comunidad (PSA)- Individual y Campaña fue concedido al anuncio "CETPA". Este Anuncio de Servicio Público fue creado por Iban De Miguel, Mariden Lord y Montse Mota de Univisión 34 Atlanta y Karelis Ferrer y el grupo de juventud de HEROES de CETPA.
Esto anuncio de servicio a la comunidad en español se enfoca en ayudar a los menores de edad a no tomar alcohol antes de los 21 años el cual formó parte de la campaña de medios subsidio de SPF SIG que CETPA recibió por el DBHDD.

 Dream'rs-Braves Foundation Partnership

The CETPA Clubhouse "Dream'rs" is pleased to announce the alliance with the Braves Foundation organization, which has allowed six Atlanta Bravesplayers to donate tickets for our youth to attend threeregular season games of the professional baseballteam from the Georgia capital.
Players who contributed with their tickets were TimHudson, Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, Craig Kimbrel, Michael Bourn and Martin Prado. This donation also benefited the children from CETPA's sister program the Prevention clubhouse.
For the majority of our children this was the firstopportunity to go to Turner Field and enjoy a nice baseball game. Thank you Braves Foundation and Atlanta Braves for this wonderful gift.
Alianza de Dream´rs & Fundación de los Bravos
Por Henry Higuita, Director del Clubhouse DREAM'RS El Clubhouse de CETPA Dream'rs se complace en anunciar la alianza con la organización "Braves Foundation", la fundación del equipo profesional de beisból de Atlanta - Los Bravos, la cual ha permitido que seis jugadores de Los Bravos donen boletos de entradas para que nuestros jóvenes asistan a tres juegos de la temporada regular del equipo de béisbol profesional de la capital de Georgia. Los jugadores que cedieron sus entradas fueron Tim Hudson, Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, Craig Kimbrel, Michael Bourn and Martin Prado. De esta donación también se beneficiaron los niños del programa de CETPA "Clubhouse de Prevención". Para la mayoría de nuestros niños esta fue la primera oportunidad de asistir al Turner Field y disfrutar de un agradable juego de béisbol. Gracias Braves Foundation y Atlanta Braves por este maravilloso regalo. |
 CETPA is recipient of Food Program for Prevention Summer Camps By Michelle Zelaya, Prevention Clubhouse Director Bright from the Start is a program from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, which aims to feed students with low income, who receive free breakfast and free/reduced lunch during the school year and during the summer. The program works with churches, schools and non-profits organizations like CETPA. CETPA Prevention Department is proud to say that we have been working with this wonderful program for nine years. Bright from the Start has supplied us with healthiest breakfasts and lunches to give to students who participate in our summer camps. Working with this program has been a sheer blessing to us, our students and their families. During the 2011 summer, the program provided millions of meals to students around the state of Georgia. Bright from the Start will continue providing meals for this summer and many more to come. We look forward to work with them as we provide The CETPA Prevention Summer Camps. Our summer camp programs are fun, educational and free of charge. Thank you Bright from The Start for helping us to help others! CETPA participa en programa de comida saludable durante campamentos de verano Por Michelle Zelaya, Directora del Club de Prevención Brillante Desde El Comienzo (Brigth from The Start en ingles) es un programa que ofrece el Departamento de Aprendizaje y Cuidado Temprano del estado de Georgia. El objetivo de este programa es proveer alimentación a estudiantes con bajos recursos económicos a precio reducido o gratis en las escuelas durante el año escolar y durante el verano. Este programa colabora con iglesias, escuelas y organizaciones sin fines de lucro, como CETPA. El Departamento de Prevención de CETPA, esta orgulloso de decir que hemos trabajando con este maravilloso programa por nueve años. Brigth from the Start nos ha proveído saludables desayunos y almuerzos gratis para los estudiantes que participan en nuestros campamentos de verano. Trabajar con este programa ha sido una bendición para nosotros, nuestros estudiantes y sus familias. Mother's Day

On Friday, May 11th of 2012, the Dream'rs Clubhouse invited the parents and family members of all the participants, and some former participants as well, to celebrate with them a very special occasion. Mother's Day! The teen members and staff wanted to give the mothers a memorable event, and for that reason they worked very diligently to put together a festivity full of
great food, great entertainment, and wonderful surprises.
In this occasion, we had the privilege to serve a home cooked exquisite meal, made by our own Parent Advocate, Maria Brander, and one of the mothers' volunteering hands!
Besides enjoying a delicious meal, the families and clubhouse members were also delighted with the wonderful performance of our much appreciated magician, Drusso, from Magic House at Discovery Mills. With countless tricks and illusions that involved and fascinated the spectators, we can definitely say this presentation was a tremendous success!
Lastly, the youth had also prepared a beautiful surprise for their mothers to take home and treasure for life. As a token of appreciation for all the love and support the mothers have given them throughout their lives, they created their own patterns and designs of jewelry! Specific to their mother's taste and like.
We have lots of love to share in a creative way and some rising artisans in the house!
Día de la Madre

El viernes 11 de mayo, el Clubhouse Dream'rs invitó a los padres y familiares de los miembros, así como algunos ex miembros a celebrar una ocasión especial: El Día de la Madre. Nuestros jóvenes y el personal administrativo deseaban para las madres un evento memorable, y por esa razón trabajaron diligentemente para tener una festividad llena buena comida, gran entretenimiento y maravillosas sorpresas.
En esta oportunidad tuvimos el privilegio de servir una exquisita comida casera, hecha por nuestra consejera de padres, Maria Brander y una de las madres voluntarias.
Además de disfrutar de la deliciosa comida, las familias y los miembros también se deleitaron con la maravillosa actuación del reconocido mago "Drusso", de la Casa Mágica del Discover Mills Mall. Con incontables trucos e ilusiones que involucraron y fascinaron a los espectadores, definitivamente podemos decir que la presentación fue un tremendo éxito.
Por último, los jóvenes también prepararon una hermosa sorpresa para que sus madres llevaran a casa y atesoraran de por vida. Como una señal de aprecio por todo el amor y apoyo que las madres les han dado durante sus vidas, ellos crearon sus propios diseños de joyería, específicamente del gusto de las madres. Tenemos mucho amor para compartir de forma creativa y algunos artesanos que surgen en la casa.
