Synod Student Musicians Attend Academy |

Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival (LSM) was held at Luther College in Decorah, IA from June 24 to July 22, 2012. This summer, 149 student musicians gathered from all over the country to achieve musical excellence, form lifelong friendships, deepen faith, and ignite the spark to serve. Quinn Gingrich of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (Elizabethtown), and Leah Jorgenson of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (Lancaster) are two of the students chosen to participate in the program.

The goal of Lutheran Summer Music is to train and empower the future musicians of the church. LSM features an outstanding faculty of artists and teachers who guide gifted high school students from around the country through four weeks of intensive musical study and perfromance. Students receive individual lessons; play in a chamber ensemble; participate in band, orchestra, or choir; study musicianship; take electives such as handbells, conducting, jazz, or church music; and attend recitals.
