Ever see a scene in a movie where music is being played? Have you wondered whether that's an actor or a musician? More often than not, you're seeing a trained, professional musician, who is being hired to do something that's a cross between music and acting. It's called sideline work and it's covered by an AFM agreement with full benefits and back end protection. For more information, click here.
Local 802 occasionally gets calls asking if we can recommend any musicians for this work. Our referral service handles these inquiries. To be considered for this kind of work, start by e-mailing us a head shot taken with or without your instrument. All photos must be in .JPG format and be low-resolution (92 dpi). Either black-and-white or color is O.K. -- whatever you think represents you best. E-mail your photo and contact information to us by clicking here. For more information, contact Theresa Couture at (212) 245-4802.

Let's say you get called to play a wedding, but you've never filed a contract with the union before. We'll walk you through the contract and show you how to fill it out. And here's the best part: when it comes time to pay your musicians, you simply write one check. Then we handle everything else: mailing the checks to the musicians, withholding taxes, mailing payments to the state and the feds, taking care of unemployment and workers' comp payments and paying union benefits and work dues.
If one of your musicians later applies for unemployment, we handle that.
If a musician has to file a workers' comp claim for the gig,
we take care of it.
We can handle any kind of gig: weddings, club dates, classical performances, theatre, recording...anything at all. Call us for your next gig and leave the paperwork to us.
For more information, click here or call Ronnie Gent at (212) 245-4802, ext. 175.
