Report on 802 Bylaws July 22, 2009
Dear 802 Member,

During the last several months there has been a discussion about the correct interpretation of the Local 802 Bylaws regarding "Charges Against Officers."  This issue is the subject of current charges against Local 802's Officers and Executive Board and was the subject of a good deal of debate at the June 2009 membership meeting.

Following that meeting Local 802 Officers requested that staff and counsel review Allegro.  By going back to 1982, the end of the Arons' administration, we hoped to ascertain the history and intent of this bylaw section.  As a result of that process, an anomaly was discovered that led to a complete examination of the last 27 years of Allegro, the Official Journal of the Union in which all Executive Board minutes and By-law changes are required to be printed.

Here is a link to the report given to the Executive Board on July 21, 2009 based on that research. We believe it is important to share this information fully and completely with the membership. We also invite you to click here which will take you to the Local 802 website where all the documents are available for your examination.

We believe this research has been thorough and complete. However, we invite anyone with any other pertinent documentary evidence (other bylaw changes which relate to charges against officers which were proposed, passed in accordance with our bylaws and published in Allegro) to make us aware of such evidence immediately.

Thank you for your interest.

In Solidarity,

Mary Landolfi, President
Jay Blumenthal,  Financial Vice President
Bill Dennison, Recording Vice-President
