John Hall, born July 23, 1948, is a musician and small business owner who co-founded the popular band Orleans. By age 21, he was a successful songwriter, and composed and directed music for Broadway and off-Broadway musicals. As a songwriter and guitarist, he worked with Janis Joplin, Little Feat and Bonnie Raitt, among other artists, before the founding Orleans in 1972.  He has recorded 18 albums and CDs with Orleans or as a solo artist, including the hits "Dance With Me" and "Still The One."  Hall has long been active in the environmental movement, and co-founded Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE). Since then, he has continued working on energy, water and land use issues.   His 2005 CD "Rock Me On the Water," featuring a reggae version of the Jackson Browne classic, was warmly received by radio and music critics alike.

John Hall is the first ever AFM and Local 802 member to win a seat in Congress. He represents the 19th district in the U.S. House. The 19th district includes all of Putnam County, most of Orange County, southern Dutchess County, and northern parts of Westchester and Rockland Counties.
