Respect Will Turn the Lights Back On
Dear Member,
For the first time in their 121-year history, stagehands of I.A.T.S.E. Local One have been forced to strike against the League of American Theatres and Producers Inc. This break from an unprecedented history of peaceful labor relations is the inevitable consequence of an aggressive strategy by League hawks who insist upon significant and immediate concessions. Solidarity Now
Stagehands on Broadway need our solidarity! While producers may have told you to stay home because the theatres are closed, we urge you to show up for your regularly scheduled shows as often as possible and join the picket lines. If possible, we urge you to bring your instruments and help turn the picket line into a spirited event. Local 802 has issued a public statement on the strike that we ask your help in distributing to the public. |

Grievance For Unpaid Shows
We have been informed that theatre owners will only pay musicians for the four or five shows performed last week before the strike began. We believe this is a violation of our collective bargaining agreement and that a full week's salary is due. Likewise we believe a full week of health benefit payments are owed. A grievance will be filed on these issues and vigorously pursued. We have asked Local 802 counsel to review the possibility of an ongoing grievance over lost wages. |
