As of 10am on Saturday, November 10 our Sisters and Brothers of Local 1 I.A.T.S.E. are on strike on Broadway. Given this situation, we are issuing this revised set of procedures that we are asking all Broadway musicians to follow.
Local 802 is not on strike and thus if you were scheduled to work, prior to the beginning of the strike you are required to report to work for each performance. If you have received instructions from theatre owners or producers that the theatres are closed and that you need not report to work until further notice, we still urge you to report to the theatre and show your solidarity with the members of Local One. Do not carry a strike sign because Local 802 is not on strike.
In reporting to the Theatre we ask that you sign in with your in-house contractor and if asked, sign the Local One sign in sheet as well..
At its upcoming meetingthe 802 Executive Board will be discussing how best to utilize the resources of the Local 802 Strike Fund in this situation as well as any concerns that may arise regarding your health benefits
In the event of a labor dispute Unemployment Insurance benefits in are the same for everyone involved, both those on strike and those not on strike but affected by the dispute. Those benefits do not begin until day 50 of that labor dispute. There is no advantage to be gained by applying for benefits now.
The Local 802 Headquarters building will remain open during this strike for any members who need rest or a place to warm up. Further updates will be available on the Local 802 Hotline 212 245-4802 x260
