off to the 48 businesses (and scores of individuals), who, so far, are carrying the Stop Domain Subsidies petition! Without your help, we cannot stand up to the special interests that seem to be taking over our city on a daily basis. That, of course, includes the unfair and unwise subsidization of The Domain Mall developer, Simon Properties! (Yes, that's the largest mall developer in the nation who now owns The Domain!)
Then there's the bashful owner of Aqua Tek Tropical Fish, Bruce Kelley (see his arm), who would only let me take a picture of this beautiful aquarium next to the petition board:
And there's the lovely Leslie Martin, Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse, Eddie Floyd, Bark 'n Purr, and Jared & Karla Longnion, Auto Maintenance Man!
Don't forget folks, we cannot do this without everyone lending a hand. We will need to file 20,000 valid signatures by the end of January. We have about 6,000 in hand -- great job -- but we still have a way to go!
That's why we brought on board Austin Unique owner, Johnny Barnett (who has since gotten a hair cut!) seated below at one of his Tuesday luncheons at Jovita's with Flo & Royce Zook. Royce is our assistant treasurer and owns Zook Insurance and Flo is volunteering as one of our notaries. That's Wayne LaChapelle on the right of Partners in Health Products.
How Can You Help? We're glad you asked!
1. Download the petition, the petition language, instructions and 8" x11" sign and have it available at your business or (including you regular folks), just carry it with you to your friends & family. We will begin advertising soon, but don't wait! (Note: Some of you business owners may choose to simply ask your family, friends and employees to take a petition and get their friends and family to sign. We don't care how you do it, but just THAT you do it!)
