kathy oleinik award
Kathy said the Academy Awards night when she accepted the MVP Award was one of the happiest nights of her life

Many of you are aware that our Vice President Kathy Oleinik, Neighborhood Welcome suffered a massive stroke in February.  She was moved to Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin, Room 102 - Harbor on her birthday March 28. The address is 1625 Coldwater Creek Drive (off Meadowbrook) and she is in the Harbor Room 102.  Tel 262-521-8902.  She has therapy during the day but is lonely for calls and visitors after 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

She thanks Matt Titel (Commonwealth Mortgage Group), LaVonne Beecher (Safari Brand Marketing), Jodi Keene (Mary Kay Cosmetics), Bill Czaja (State Farm Insurance),  Katie Cianciolo (Cruise One), Susan Poenisch (Pewaukee Chamber Intern) who were able to visit her on her birthday.  That meant a lot to her.

Don't forget to register for our April 26 Biz After 4 at Sports Dock where donations will be accepted for the Kathy Oleinik Benefit Fund established at Associated Bank.

Meet Pewaukee Chamber's New Intern
Susan Poenisch

Hello Everyone,
I'm Susan Poenisch and this semester, through the Business Co-op/Internship program at Waukesha County Technical College , I obtained an internship with the Pewaukee Chamber of Commerce.   I've been a student at Waukesha County Technical College since 2009, working towards my Administrative Professional  Associate Degree.  Every day I work with Kathy at the Chamber,  I learn something new about Pewaukee.  And as a bonus, I've met a lot of great  people through the Chamber.  I wish my internship could last forever!

"I am so appreciative of the many hours Susan works, beyond her internship, assisting us in updating our emails, flyers, new member packets, etc. There isn't a project that Susan has not cheerfully undertaken". Kathy Eckhardt
Who is Ambassador Bill Czaja?
I am Bill Czaja your Good Neighbor Agent for State Farm in the Pewaukee area.  I am married to my awesome wife Carol of 27 years.  We have three sons, Eric 23 a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, Tim 22 a supervisor for the Vail Ski Corporation and Luke 16 a Jr in high school.  Carol and I met our sophomore year of high school during the musical "Brigadoon", we were both in the cast.  For the past twenty years I have been of service to the people of the Waterford  area for State Farm and am looking forward to doing the same for the people of the Pewaukee area.

My passions and enjoyments are various activities.  I have competed two full Ironman distance triathlons, six half ironman distance and number of other distances.  This year was my 28th Birkie cross country ski race.  I have completed a number of marathons including Boston and this year plan to run the Milwaukee Marathon.

Being involved in the local chamber was a given and when  the opportunity to give back as an ambassador for the Pewaukee Chamber was presented to me I said "yes".

The good Lord has blessed me and my family and we are thankful for each day and look forward to getting to know the people of the Pewaukee community.

Meet Our Employees of the Year

Julie Korth

Julie Korth, Senior Processor with Commonwealth Mortgage Group, was nominated for Employee of the Year by everyone at her office. Since her hire date, Julie has exceeded every expectation of her and she consistently goes above and beyond her job duties, not only when she is asked to, but every day. Julie not only excels at what she does, but her upbeat personality always turns a tough situation into a pleasurable one. Thank you Julie!!!!!!!

Shari Crook, Pewaukee Public Schools

Shari Crook

Shari Crook serves the Pewaukee School District as an Administrative Assistant serving our Chief Academic Officer.  In turn, Shari serves all of our teachers as well as parents and students with a great sense of customer service.  She is the keeper of all data and is called upon to display it  in the beautiful charts and graphs she creates.  Shari is the best!

Jane Kirkwood, Becky's Blissful Bakery

Jane Kirkwood who is our Production Manager at Becky's Blissful Bakery developed a written recall process & policy including our procedure manual.  Her perseverance and commitment to high standards is unwavering.  It took very long days and weeks of testing new formulas and she stayed committed to our success and manufacturing an efficient process. Jane is the Hallmark of good work ethic.  She is reliable, loyal, committed and the hardest worker you will ever meet.  If there is a more cost effective, efficient way of doing something, Jane will find it.  The beauty of Jane is that all of this is wrapped in a wonderful upbeat - positive attitude and beautiful smile.

It works both ways.  You must "give to get".  Share with the rest of the chamber your testimonial, encouraging members to support each other

businessXchange means supporting each other, giving referrals and doing business with each other. This is a founding principle of why chambesrs were formed.  Please show us how you support your chamber members by senidng your businessXchange's to info@pewaukeechamber.org

Just wanted to let you know that I have done business recently with Bob Winter at Lake Country Travel.  My husband and I booked a fabulous 11 day vacation to Negril, Jamaica with them!  They gave us great service and we're looking forward to our trip.  Jim and Bob were a delight to work with!  Michele Feltz, SendOutCards

Lake Country Travel would like to thank Kirkland Crossings for inviting us to participate in their resident cruise week activities last week. We had a great time with the over 50+ residents who attended! Jim Wilde, Lake Country Travel

Congratulations to Barbecue Company and Lake Country Catering for receiving a composite score of "5" the maximum rating for their luncheon they catered at Quad Direct on March 14.  Pewaukee Chamber

Fred Miller, Atalanta Consulting, also wrote us that he thought Barbecue Company and Lake Country Catering's luncheon was one of the best luncheons he ever had!

Brad Schlaikowski, Pewaukee PTO, organizer of Community Fair would like to thank Christina Dollins, Lakeview Insurance, whose support and promotion of the Community Fair has been outstanding! Subsequently, by April 1 he was able to fill all the booth spots!

Sign A Rama-Pewaukee would like to thank all of the chamber members who we have had the pleasure of working with during our first couple of months! Quality Remodeling Specialists (Pictures for Nari Show), Mixer Systems (vinyl signs), Northern Stainless Corporation (Vehicle graphics), Queen of Apostles School (banner), and American Legion Pewaukee Post 71 (Raffle Sign). It has been a pleasure working with all of you! Marcia Skarie, Sign A Rama

I can't tell you how thankful our shop is to be able to provide flowers for Spargo Salon and Spa every week. We have customers that comment on the flowers they saw when they were there all the time! It has even brought in customers that never knew about us before that. Our owner and several employees now go to Spargo for hair services, pampering and much more! Thank you Spargo Salon & Spa!  Danyell Cain - Manager, Bank of Memories & Flowers

On March 7th my Waterstone Mortgage office held a team buildng and coaching session at our corporate office.  We then had an extended Happy Hour at Salsa Cafe & Cantina.  Kristina's crew took great care of us with great food and drinks!  Thanks Kristina Krueger!

We needed a half page ad FAST,....and  Ron Wurm of Design Wurm, LLC came through quickly and did an AWESOME job!!    Thanks Ron!!   Lori Davis of Tropical Sno

I just spoke to the owner of Bubba's Frozen Custard and he will be selling half scoops of custard for $1.00 and ALL proceeds will go to Pewaukee PTO. I love our little neighborhood!! Brad Schlaikowski, Coordinator of Pewaukee Community Fest

Hi Andy (BBQ Company), I was at the Chamber meeting today and wanted to tell you that the food was delicious. I will spread the word about your company and I will personally use your company when I have the need for caterer.Best regards, Janet Rasmussen, Membership Services Director  West Wood Health Center -ProHealth Care

Thanks to all of the Chamber members that attended our business luncheon at Quad Direct on March 14.  It was a greater success than I even thought at the time and I have been informed that it is the first time that any caterer has been given a rating of all 5's so I thought I would just say thanks to everyone for appreciating all of the work that goes into what I do.  I have received some personal emails thanking me for the meal and have already booked a nice catering job as a result for Tammy Klink.  So no good deed goes unpunished is how they say.  Thanks again Chamber members and look forward to many more opportunities in the future.  Andrew Jepsen, BBQ Company

At the Awards Gala, we won the bidding for the "Cooking with Chef Greg" at Salsa Cafe & Cantina. The experience was great!  Joe and I worked with Chef Greg to create a delicious tapas menu for our event (items that are not on the current menu). We helped in the kitchen to prepare several of the dishes under the supervision of Chef Greg and then we had the opportunity to enjoy the dishes with six of our friends in the private dining area of the restaurant. Everything was delicious!  The margaritas were awesome too!  And the table-side Bananas Foster prepared by Chef Greg was the perfect dessert. We all had a great time...and left the restaurant VERY full. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Chef Tammy" and "Chef Joe", Tammy Klink, WineShop At Home

We went to Ken at Sign A Rama for new graphics for our booth at the NARI Show (see our photo in last month's newsletter).  We intended to get 3 new, and use 1 from previous years.  The new ones were so well done that we decided to get the other done as well.  An issue did arise with one of the graphics (not Sign A Rama's fault), and Lynn got it re-done within a day so we'd have it in time for the Show.  During the Show, we approached them about 2 more, smaller signs, and those were finished yet that day.  Their service and quality has been amazing and we couldn't be more pleased.  Quality Remodeling Specialists, Inc.

Thank you to Ray and Alisha at Associated Bank for letting us set up a table offering our 2011 Tax Return specials and supporting our business!!   And to Ron Wurm from Design Wurm for creating our $25 off a tax return coupon to put on the table at Associated Bank. Patti Maynard CPA, Maynard & Belt

Brad Schlaikowski, Pewaukee PTO, organizer of Community Fair would like to thank Christina Dollins, Lakeview Insurance, whose support and promotion of the Community Fair has been outstanding!

Thank you  to the above members for showing your support of each other in this column.   Send your BUSINESS XCHANGE to info@pewaukeechamber.org to be included in the next newsletter
