Septemer 14 Luncheon
"Does Your Web Page Suck?"
| |
Topic: "Does Your Web Page Suck?"Description: Today's Web site designs are richer, more interactive and even more profitable than they were even 5 years ago. However, far too many small businesses try to achieve the same results by going it alone when building their Web sites. Others think a simple template or a free site building software will be fine (and cheap!). Unfortunately, web design requires much more than merely uploading your logo, choosing a color scheme and copying and pasting text. Amazingly, business owners invest more in the design of their brochures, letterhead and business cards than in the design of their Web sites, despite knowing that most of their current and prospective customers will have their first encounter with a company online. Worry not! Pat McKenna, President of MojoWeb Productions, will lead our lunch group through a colorful, energetic presentation of the principles of successful Web site design and usability. He will also critique 5 sites volunteered by our members and make suggestions for improvements to position yourself well in today's extremely competitive digital economy. Location: WCTC RTA Anderson Center, 600 Main Street - Click on Map - Map will also show parking places near the Center. Menu: Fresh Basil Cucumber Tomato Salad with Honey Mustard Vinaigrette, Assorted Dinner Rolls, Roasted Turkey Breast in Wine Sauce, Salisbury Steak in Hunter Sauce, Red Skin Mashed Potatoes, Chef's Vegetable, Very Berry Shortcake, Beverages
Register Online for Luncheon Fee: $15 online for Members; Nonmembers:$20 |

Hosting a Business After 4 is FREE to Chamber members. We recommend you supply food and refreshments as well as door prizes. We will announce your event in our Newsletter as well as on our website and through emails and at our monthly luncheons. You are encouraged to invite your own guests such as customers, vendors or suppliers.

 | | It works both ways. You must "give to get". Share with the rest of the chamber your testimonial, encouraging members to support each other |
According to networking experts, one must "give to get" to reap the benefits resulting in referrals, leads and ultimately "growing your business".
Let us know how you have worked with other chamber members and we will publish your testimonial. We want our Chamber to be known as one that promotes, supports, refers and uses each other!
Thank you for your responses....here they are since last newsletter. If you click on the highlighted chamber member's name with a response you can contact them directly to thank them!

We are frequent patrons of Casa Tequilla, it's delicious! We buy gift cards to Butler Inn to give as prizes and gifts in our office. We've sent referrals to Katie Cianciolo from Cruise One and they have been extremely happy with their vacations! We have accounts at Associated Bank and Alicia Schulz was very helpful in setting that up. We buy gift cards at Bubba's for our "kid" prizes at the office. They love the ice cream!!!
| from Kathy Oleinik, Neighborhood Welcome...
I have business checking accounts at both Northshore Bank and Sunset Bank. Love them both.
Both my sons and I are patients of Dr. Brad Nutting at Chiropractic and Wellness on Pewaukee Lake. His knowledgeable approach to every little ache and complaint is most appreciated.
Cartridge World saves me a ton of money. Cindy and Greg were extremely helpful when I needed a new printer, and helped me choose the one that was best for the needs of my business. They always stand behind everything they sell, too!
When I needed something pretty to wear to the Pewaukee Chamber Annual Awards Dinner, I shopped at Wooden Hangar and found the perfect outfit at a fantastic price.

We purchased a business insurance policy from Vince Worley of Security Insurance Agency. We were extremely happy with his response time and the quote.
We sent my brother to Lake Country Auto Care, and he raved about them. from Sandra Raasch, American Republic Insurance... When my telephone number changed recently, I had AmeriSign & Graphics print new business cards along with postcards to notify my clients. Two days later, my phone was ringing off the hook! Who could ask for more?

| Waukesha Memorial Hospital Ranks Among the Best | |
U.S. News Ranks Waukesha Memorial Fourth of 32 Hospitals in Southeast WI
 | Renee McHale is Pewaukee Chamber's Pro Health Care representative |
Waukesha Memorial Hospital has been ranked fourth out of the 32 hospitals in southeast Wisconsin in U.S. News & World Report's 2011-12 Best Hospitals rankings. Waukesha Memorial is also ranked high-performing in gastroenterology and urology.
"We are pleased that a nationally respected, independent organization like U.S. News is recognizing our organization's accomplishments, which reflect our focus on patients and on high quality care," said John Robertstad, president of ProHealth Care's hospital division. "Our doctors, nurses and every member of our staff contribute toward important rankings like this."
The core mission of Best Hospitals is to help guide patients who need an especially high level of care because of a difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or age. The U.S. News metro rankings cover 94 metro areas in the United States and give many such patients and their families options of hospitals within their community and in their health insurance network.
The rankings are based on data that include death rates, patient safety, procedure volume, and other objective measures. Responses to a national survey, in which physicians were asked to name hospitals they consider best in their specialty for the toughest cases, also were factored in.
The rankings cover 16 medical specialties and all 94 metro areas that have at least 500,000 residents and at least one hospital that performed well enough to be ranked.
|
| Aurora Health Care Ranked in US News & World Report | |
Excerpt from Biz Times Milwaukee - August 5-18, 2011...
 | | Jennifer Tarantino is Aurora's representative with the Pewaukee Chamber. |
Three Aurora Health Care sites have been ranked in U.S. News & World Report's 2011-12 Best Hospital rankings. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Aurora West Allis Medical Center, and Aurora Sinai Medical Center were all recognized in the rankings.
Each of those hospitals is ranked among the country's top hospitals in at least one medical specialty and/or ranked among the best hospitals in its metro area. Covering 94 metro areas in the U.S., the regional hospital rankings complement the national rankings by including hospitals with solid performance nearly at the level of nationally ranked institutions. The regional rankings are aimed primarily at consumers whose care may not demand the special expertise found only at a nationally ranked Best Hospital or who may not be willing or able to travel long distances for medical care. The U.S. News metro rankings give many such patients and their families more options of hospitals within their community and in their health insurance network.
Numbers stand behind the rankings in most specialties - death rates, patient safety, procedure volume, and other objective data. Responses to a national survey, in which physicians were asked to name hospitals they consider best in their specialty for the toughest cases. also were factored in.

Milwauke Marriott West
| | In case you missed "Best of the Blogs" in Thursday, August 4, 2011 WAUKESHA NOW, here's an excerpt.
The author Jay Walt's oldest daughter, Kelly, booked the Milwaukee Marriott West for their reception and also reserved an executive suite. Due to an error, a double booking occurred and General Manager Keith Kramar responded by offering a compromise that was "far more user-friendly and accommodating than our original suite. ... It was very refreshing to know and witness this professionalism starts at the top." Again, this just confirms what our chamber members already experienced when Marriott hosted our Annual Awards Dinner, Keith and his staff are a top notch team!

A Review of "Organize Your Time or It Will Organize You" from August Luncheon at Kirkland Crossings
| | Our thanks to Deb Bayee and Kirkland Crossings for hosting a wonderful luncheon for us in August. Our speaker, Paul Parsons, shares with us some memorable "time management" tips from his luncheon presentation.
 | Deb Bayee, Kirkland Crossings Host, proudly shows off their facility to Katie Zuberbier and Jannah Neuendorf, Young Scholars Learning Academy. |
"The only thing even and equal in this world is the number of hours in a day. The difference in winning or losing is what you do with those hours."...Woody Hayes, Football Coach
"Time is your most precious resource. It is the most valuable thing you have. It is perishable, it is irreplaceable, and it cannot be saved. It can only be reallocated from activities of lower value to activities of higher value. All work requires time. And time is absolutely essential for the important relationships in your life. The very act of taking a moment to think about your time before you spend it will begin to improve your personal time management immediately."
....Brian Tracy
There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing.
The best Time Management tool is the word "NO".
And he ended with this question, "Am I now doing the No. 1 thing I can possibly be doing to move my business forward and achieve my goals?" If not, and you need a coach, contact Paul Parsons.

Questions to the Editor
| | Q: Why am I having difficulty registering for chamber events using my member log in on the website?
A: The member log in on the website is only to be used when you wish to update your website portal, i.e., changing the wording in your business listing, posting specials/discounts, events or job openings.
When you wish to register for an event you must click on the hyperlink in the email for the event or on the hyperlink on the front web page under "Featured Events" where the events are featured each month. Then you will be asked to enter your member name (if you haven't already saved it) and password.
Q: What do I do if I forget my user name and/or password?
A: Periodically, we send you reminders of your user name and password with requests to update your website portal. In fact, some chambers charge members extra to post specials/discounts, events, etc. on their portals. This is free with your Pewaukee Chamber membership!
