The Jewish Federation of Greater Long Beach is a member agency of JCPA and supports their efforts to lead the national coalition of Jewish organizations to collect signatures and raise awareness about the connection between energy policy and the funding of Iran's illicit nuclear weapons program and the funding of terrorism.

The mission of JCPA is to serve as the representative voice of the organized American Jewish community in addressing the principal mandate of the Jewish community relations field, expressed in three interrelated goals:
1) To safeguard the rights of Jews here and around the world; 2)To dedicate ourselves to the safety and security of the state of Israel;
3) To protect, preserve and promote a just American society, one that is democratic and pluralistic, one that furthers harmonious inter-religious, inter ethnic interracial and other inter-group relations.
Jewish Federations Come to the Aid of Nashville
Nashville Floods

Jewish Federations throughout North America are mobilizing to help victims of the recent severe flooding in Tennessee.

The Jewish Federation of Nashville & Middle Tennessee and its agencies have been supporting local flood relief efforts since torrential rains inundated the Southeast, causing an estimated $1 billion in damage in Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi. This flood, claiming 23 lives, may prove to be the largest natural domestic disaster since Hurricane Katrina.

Federations and individuals have donated more than $50,000 already to the Nashville Federation. Federations are greatly encouraged to donate more to ensure that Nashville can provide critical services to those who are displaced from their homes. Large-City Federations have united in an act of collective responsibility, pledging upwards of $100,000.

"So far, we have disbursed more than $43,000 to 46 families. We are now embarking on phase two of our allocations process, a more thorough assessment of the needs. We will be looking to other Federations for help in the coming weeks and are praying they will continue to answer our call," explains Steven Edelstein, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Nashville.

Fact of the Week
Fact of the Week

The Jewish Federations support JDC's work in Kyrgyzstan, home to an estimated 1,300 Jews. JDC's local Hesed welfare center provides food and medicine to the community. JDC also provides a Jewish library, family education programs, aid for the elderly and at-risk children. During recent political upheaval in the country, JDC monitored the Jewish community's safety and ensured they continued to receive critical support.
