2011 Year-In-Review

President's Message
Linda DC 3
2011 has been an exciting year and much has been accomplished, thanks to the generous support of ADAO's
and the hard work of each and every one of you we are please to share our 2011 Year in Review.

As I reflect on the past year, a culture of collaboration for prevention and advances in digital technology has never been powerful and prove that together we can make a difference.  ADAO mentee from Turkey, Sinem Delal Kankotan's excellent first asbestos video presentation is an example of the positive influence all of us can have if we take the time to connect and share.

As we head into 2012, I know that our collaborations will create even more positive change. On behalf of ADAO, happy New Year! We wish you and yours peace, prosperity, happiness, and health.

In unity,

 ADAO's 2012 Conference Dr. LemenInvitation

I would like to again invite you to attend our 8th annual International Asbestos Disease Awareness Conference in Manhattan Beach, California on March 30 - April 1, 2012. I still remember attending ADAO's first conference in Washington, D.C. in 2005 and hearing the voices of the asbestos victims and presenters. I find these conferences to be highly educational as well as providing an ability to share our stories and provide support for those suffering from an asbestos-related disease and to their families as well. Please mark these dates aside and plan to participate in this year's Conference.

ADAO relies entirely on the generous support of its sponsors and individual donors to fund its education, advocacy, and community initiatives. Thank you to those that have found it in their hearts to support ADAO's efforts and save lives in 2011!

As the conference is our only fundraising opportunity for the year, we ask for your continued support in 2012. ADAO's sponsorship opportunities have been revamped and improved and we are excited to share them with you! For more information, contact Linda at: [email protected]. The only way to stop asbestos-related diseases in the future is by preventing exposure and finding a cure; and with your support, we can get one step closer to our goals.

Pay Tribute to Loved Ones with ADAO's 2012 Family Tribute Program by Marilyn Amento

Marilyn Amento 2011 TributeWould you spend $1 a day to prevent the death of someone you love? ADAO puts every penny we receive to do just that. Nearly every volunteer at ADAO has suffered the death-by-asbestos of a husband or wife or child or someone we loved more than life itself. We transform our intense pain, anger, and grief of such preventable deaths into positive action. Join me this year in preventing asbestos-caused diseases by donating to ADAO and honoring and remembering your loved ones in a a family 2012 tribute in our conference program. Click and read my personal story, and thank you for your conitnued support. 2012 Family Tribute Form

The North American Declaration to Eliminate Asbestos-Related Disease

Speaking of a culture of collaboration for prevention, ADAO is proud to announce that ADAO and Canadian Voices of Asbestos Victims (CVAV) - in unity with American and Canadian asbestos victims and families, and those who are concerned with asbestos exposure - have come together to advocate for the elimination of asbestos-related diseases.  The North American Declaration to Eliminate Asbestos-Related Disease unites these voices in a common plea, calling for Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama to stop the use of asbestos and develop safer alternatives. We have seen firsthand and through the stories of asbestos victims through SHARE YOUR STORY the horrible consequences of this deadly carcinogen and we encourage you to take action and sign the petition.
