Thank you for remembering
On April 10-12, 2008, SAFE held its second Global Candlelight Vigil to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the looting of the Iraq Museum and raise awareness of the ongoing destruction of the world's shared cultural heritage. Following the first Candlelight Vigil in 2007, We are inspired by the response we received this year, which was even greater than last year's.
In classrooms, museums, art galleries and restaurants in six countries on three continents, committed people of all ages came together to watch documentaries, listen to lectures, and participate in discussions and seminars. Some even searched for looted artifacts on eBay.
If you haven't done so already, please tell us about your vigil and send us your images. Memorializing events in this way enabled SAFE to compile a video memorial in 2007, which we presented to the staff at the Iraq Museum. Help us to do the same this year.
