SAFE Member spotlight
This month, the spotlight shines on SAFE
Members Paula
Lazrus and Marina
Papa-Sokal and Sarah Pickman.
Paula and Marina contributed
essays to
Archaeology,
Cultural Heritage, And the Antiquities Trade
(Cultural Heritage Studies) , a comprehensive anthology
featuring top
international experts on the commodification of
artifacts, the
burgeoning illicit antiquities trade, and
international
efforts to combat looting. SAFE Advisor Neil
Brodie co-edited the collection.
Sarah Pickman, an undergraduate at
the University of Chicago, contributed to SAFE's
Say
YES to Italy campaign as an intern in
2005. This past fall, her article
on the destruction of a Medieval Armenian
cemetery in Djulfa, Azerbaijan on the
Archaeology website led to an
invitation from
documentary filmmaker Simon Maghakyan to
write the script for The New Tears
of Araxes. Now on view at YouTube, the
film has received rave reviews. Thank you,
Sarah, for rejoining SAFE as a Member.
Bravo,
everybody. What are you working on?
