November finds SAFE involved in projects as diverse as a petition to Iraq and an awards ceremony in New York City.

 Operation Bring 'Em Back
 
A flurry of looting, largely by meth addicts, has devastated Central Oregon's Native American graves and ancient sites. In what may be the largest such endeavor in US history, federal agents, tribal leaders and archaeologists have formed "Operation Bring 'Em Back" to capture the illicit diggers and collectors involved.

 Letter to Iraq
 
Iraq's current turmoil has yet another cost... the loss of its heritage. SAFE recently joined a group of archaeologists addressing this issue in a letter to Iraqi heads of state. Calling for greater protection of what is often called "the cradle of civilization," the letter appeared in The Art Newspaper and the Times Online.

 Red buttons everywhere
 
SAFE red button Professor Sam Paley represented SAFE at the Cultural Heritage and New Technologies Workshop 11 in Austria. As you can see by clicking on the image at left, Professor Paley gave a wonderful presentation... and handed out a few red SAFE buttons to interested colleagues.
