PARENT AND COMMUNITY INPUT INVITED
With Superintendent Eric Hartwig retiring at the end of this school year, the Governing Board has selected the search firm Leadership Associates to assist the District in finding a new superintendent.
To find the perfect fit for us, Leadership Associates will be on our campuses this week to hear from staff, parents, and community members about the qualities and skills the new superintendent of Las Lomitas Elementary School District ought to possess. Hearing from the entire community is an important part of the superintendent search process.
Therefore, we hope you will be able meet with Mike Escalante and Peggy Lynch of Leadership Associates on Monday evening, March 5th, at 7:00 p.m. at Cano Hall (Las Lomitas) when they will hold an open forum for anyone to come and share their thoughts.
We hope that you can attend!

JUNE 1st IS GRANDPARENTS' DAY AT LAS LOMITAS!
Grandparents' Day is an opportunity for children to share their Las Lomitas experience with their grandparents for a morning. This Foundation event is a favorite...grandparents who have attended in the past loved meeting the teachers, participating in fun activities, and getting to know other grandparents! Grandparents' Day alternates each year between the two schools in our district, and this year's event is for grandparents of students in grades K-3 at Las Lomitas. Now is a good time to let out-of-town grandparents know to mark their calendars for Friday, June 1st so they can start making travel plans! We're also looking for parent volunteers to help out on the day of the event - please contact Julie Herlihy (julie_herlihy@yahoo.com) to sign up. Further details about Grandparents' Day will be announced soon via the Lion's Roar and the Grandparents' Group Newsletter.
Las Lomitas is Going for Gold!
The road to London and Olympic Glory begins May 19 at the 2012 Spring Auction in Woodside. This year we celebrate the spirit of the Olympic Games, which recognizes that "the most important thing is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle." In this spirit, we ask you to help us bring home the Gold!
Please help us create an auction catalog of Olympic greatness:

6th - 8th Grade Teacher Conference Sign Ups are Online!
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on March 14-16.
PTC Wizard is a web based parent/teacher conference scheduling system. Parents can create and manage their conference schedules in an easy and time efficient manner.
Here is what you need to do to schedule a parent/teacher conference:
- Login to https://llesdms.ptcwizard.com
- You will first need to register and enter the names of your 6th-8th grade children.
- Follow the steps and the program will instruct you on how to choose a child, choose a teacher and set a time for the conference.
- When you have finished scheduling, a confirmation email will be sent to you.
- Conference availability closes at 2pm on the school day prior to the conference.
- If a teacher's time slots are full, please call the office. We will keep a wait list.
- If for any reason the online system does not seem to be working for you, please call the office and Mrs. Rudge or Mrs. Stosz will assist you.
- Because space is limited, please login and cancel any conference that you will not be able to attend. If you need to cancel after registration has closed for that day, you will need to call the school office.
- The school office number is 650-854-3962.
Upcoming Meetings:

DADS LUNCH CLUB
WOW! Thank you to all the dads who came out for lunch with the kids on Friday! We had 27 dads of fourth and fifth graders come, eat and play. The fun included Red Rover, football, soccer, four square, and lots of smiles. We know it's harder to get your 6th-8th grader to welcome you but 7 brave dads came and made a huge difference in the lives of the kids. It is so meaningful to them to see you take an interest in their day and their friends. Thank you for coming. Please plan to come the first Friday of each month and bring a friend or two. One dad even exclaimed as he was leaving, "That was so fun! Can we do this again on Monday?"
To see some of the research on why we think this is important check out this website. They have determined 40 assets that indicate whether or not a kid will thrive. By coming to lunch we think you are contributing to all six of the support assets on the list. If you are interested in learning more about the developmental assets and Project Cornerstone, a program that is working to support schools and families, come to an informational meeting next Wednesday, March 14th at 7pm in the MUR.

Woodside High School presents: Elton John and Time Rice's "AIDA"
Egypt Comes to Woodside High School! Get ready to be transported to ancient Egypt next month. Mark your calendar to attend the WHS Theatre Arts Department's production of Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA. It is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Together, they set a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity. With a pop-rock score that features stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers, Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA is a modern crowd pleaser. It won four Tony Awards in 2000 including Best Musical Score. Under the direction of drama teacher, Barry Woodruff and a cast of over 40 students, it is sure to be a hit here at WHS. The show runs March 9, 10 and 11 and the following weekend on March 16 and 17. Tickets go on sale to the general public Feb. 1st. To purchase tickets, go to the WHS Theatre Arts Department's BRAND NEW WEBSITE at www.whsdramaboosters.com.
