CANDIDATE FORUM - SAVE THE DATE!
The Las Lomitas PTA and La Entrada PTA invite you to attend a School Board Candidate Forum on Monday, October 18, 7:00 P.M. in Cano Hall on the Las Lomitas campus. This is your opportunity to hear the visions and concerns of the four members of our community running to represent you in the important job of overseeing the education of our children.SCHOOL DIRECTORY
The school directory was delivered to your youngest student last week. If you have pre-order more than one copy, see the office for your extra copies. The directory is provided to you with PTA funds: please join the PTA if you have not done so already!
THE 2010 BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Thursday, November 5th through Friday, November 12th in the MUR
The La Entrada PTA is partnering with Kepler's again this year for another incredible Book Fair. We'll have a wonderful selection of books and gifts, as well as knowledgeable Kepler's staff on site at all times.
We'll be able to purchase gift cards before the fair again this year, but now we'll be able to do it online -- no pesky forms to fill out or checks to mail! This card can then be used by you or your child at the fair or anytime at the Kepler's Store and online at Keplers.com. Look in the Spot for the link to purchase gift Kepler's cards in the upcoming weeks.

FLU SHOT CLINIC ONLINE-SIGN-UP IS OPEN!
On Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 11:30 to 2:00, the La Entrada PTA will host a Flubusters Flu Shot Clinic in Jensen Hall at La Entrada open to all school families as well as any member of the community. The vaccine will include both the seasonal and H1N1 flu this year. Flu-Mist (spray application) will also be available. The cost will be $30 for the shot and $35 for the flu-mist. Your health insurance may reimburse you for the cost. All insurance coverage questions should be directed to your carrier.

3rd Grade Sky High Party Not sure what to do on a day off school? Join your fellow 3rd Grade friends at Sky High for jumping and fun. Snacks will be provided and carpools will be arranged.This event is donated by Lauren Schoenthaler. Date: Thursday, October 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
7th Grade Boys Golf and Swim Party It's your day off, boys! Hit the course and play 9 holes of golf with your friends at Mariner's Point Golf Course. Lunch and swimming at the Rodrigues home will follow. This event is donated by Jenny Pont, Libby Beasley, and Jennifer Rodrigues. Date: Thursday, October 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Annual Father/Daughter Dance  Join 150 lucky fathers and their gorgeous daughters (K-8) in Jensen Hall at La Entrada for a masquerade themed night of dancing and fun. Mother/Son Bowling 200 mothers and sons will be bowling at this new, district-wide Foundation-sponsored party for boys of all grades. Save The Date!
M-A Information Night - Tuesday, October 26th at 7:00pm in the MUR
M-A Principal Matthew Zito and M-A College Counselor Alice Kleeman are coming to La Entrada to talk about the many opportunities available for prospective students. All 7th and 8th grade families are invited to learn about M-A academics, athletics, music program, clubs, etc. Don't miss this opportunity to ask questions and hear different prospectives from current M-A students.
6th-8th GRADE DANCES
Dances are going to take on a fresh look this school year! Sixth graders will now be
included in the quarterly dances throughout the school year.The dances will continue
to begin at 7:00 PM. The end time for 6th graders will be 8:30PM. For 7th and 8th
graders, the end time will be 9:30PM. The dances will include: music/dancing, food
and drink, ping-pong, board games and video games. We highly encourage families to carpool whenever possible. The first dance of the year will be this Friday, Oct. 1stCOSTUMES NEEDED
Outgrown Gently-Used Halloween Costumes Needed
Haven House of Shelter Network Menlo Park is in need of ANY size costume donations for the Shelter's children school eventsand for Haven's Halloween party.. Between your kind donations and Crocker School (Hillsborough) we outfit over 80 kids (and parents!) annually.

International Walk to School Day
Lace up your tennis shoes and join kids throughout San Mateo County to walk to school on Wednesday, October 6. Walking is earth friendly and a healthy way to start the day! Remember, safety first - Cross at street corners and use cross walks; Look both ways before and during crossing; Don't run out into the street or dart into traffic. Meet a group of friends and walk together, or if you cannot walk to school, bike or scooter instead! Help us determine the best ways to walk to Las Lomitas and La Entrada by filling out a walkability (or bikeability) checklist at http://www.walktoschool.org/eventideas/checklists.cfm. Checklists can be returned to Gudrun Enger, gudrun@gmail.com, and results will be shared in future Monday newsletters.
