Community Report Coming Home
The parent volunteers of the Foundation have been hard at work throughout the summer and beginning of school to launch a significant fundraising effort to enable us, together as a community, to surpass our prior success and to raise an unprecedented $2.6M - all to help our school district maintain smaller class sizes and save critical education programs from being cut in the face of this dire economic situation.
To kick off our fundraising effort, we are sending you our annual Community Report today. This report highlights the successes and challenges facing our school district this year. Between state and federal funding cuts, increased student enrollment, and flat local tax revenue, our district's finances are being battered by significant headwinds. We need your support to mitigate the impact of these adverse conditions.
The report also thanks the many supporters from last year. We had a record 84% of parents contribute to the Foundation. This year we hope to achieve the goal of raising $2,000 per student with 100% participation. Please look for the Community Report in your child's Monday envelope or backpack this week. You may also view the Community Report online at http://www.llef.org/_who/2010CommunityReport.php.
Enclosed with the Community Report is a letter explaining the Foundation's Annual Giving Campaign and inviting you to join other parents in our school community by supporting your child's education with a tax-deductible donation. As a response to what you told us in last year's survey, we have included more information about additional funding that is needed by the school district and how it will be spent. Please look for additional information regarding the campaign in the coming days.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the educational excellence that we parents desire and all our children deserve.
Most Sincerely,
Diana Sunshine
2010-11 President
