OtelloBased on Shakespeare's Othello. The dramatic tragedy of one man's path to self-destruction is magnificently set to music in Verdi's masterpiece. As a tempestuous storm batters the island of Cyprus, Otello's ship battles its way into port. Otello proclaims victory over the Turks and the storm, and yearns for his reunion with his beautiful bride, Desdemona. Yet, his triumph is short-lived as he becomes riddled with self-doubt and jealousy. Escalated by innuendos and compromising situations fabricated by the villainous Iago, who is driven by his hatred of Otello, the tragedy crescendos in a heartbreaking conclusion where even love is not strong enough to prevail.
