The Other New York: 2012 is a community-wide, multi-venue biennial exhibition that is the result of a major collaboration among fourteen venues in Syracuse. This ambitious project aims to highlight the rich talent of artists across Upstate New York, with a special focus on Central New York and the surrounding counties. The project offers diverse arts venues and outdoor public spaces for contemporary creative expression on a scale not before seen in Syracuse. In addition, TONY: 2012 demonstrates the power of artistic partnerships to boost public awareness of the arts by presenting opportunities for the community to connect with exhibitions, programs, and events offered simultaneously throughout the city.

Post-Standard Unveils New Delivery Model
On Tuesday, August 28, the Post-Standard announced a reduction in its delivery schedule from seven days a week to three beginning on January 1 as it continues to focus its efforts more strongly on digital distribution. Newspapers will be delivered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays while the remaining editions will only be available in stores and newsstands. The Post-Standard is the most widely-circulated daily newspaper in the region, distributing about 75,000 papers daily, and over 100,000 on Sundays.
The Post-Standard has a history of highlighting artists and arts organizations, and has served as an invaluable communications vehicle and highly visible advertising platform. The format and areas of emphasis for the Post-Standard going forward remain uncertain. Interested parties can address questions to the Post-Standard directly by sending an email to questions@syracuse.com. The Cultural Resources Council has contacted the Post-Standard to ask if arts and culture will remain an area of editorial focus in the home-delivered editions of the paper. |
