| Looking Ahead to 2008
|
January 2008
|
|
Greetings!,
Things are not slowing down one bit here at RTF HQ, we're already ramping up with our two current projects:
- Awareness License Plates
- Engraved Memorial Walls
The turning of the new year can bring with it a bittersweet feeling, especially when you are mourning a loss. Although it is only one day more, January 1 marks a new year, and another year away from the year of your loss(es). Many people approach this change as an opportunity to begin again, though it can sometimes be hard to step into the new year with the feeling that your loss is a little bit farther away.
I hope this newsletter finds you looking back on the blessings that are present in your life in spite of the deep sadness and loss, and looking ahead to growth and new healing.
Engraved Memorial Order Forms are available online on our home page. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

WATCH CHANNEL 7 on Sunday!

Channel 7 Everyday Hero
I am excited to share that I was recently presented with the Channel 7 Everyday Hero Award for the work that I have done through RTF and the local MISS bereavement group that I facilitate in Parker. I am honored simply to learn I was nominated, surprised by the recognition in being awarded, and mostly I am excited by the awareness this will bring to the local community about RTF and our desire to share that it is okay to talk about child loss. The segment about RTF will air on the CH 7 ABC Sunday News at 10:00pm, and repeat five more times during the week. Once it airs, there will be a video added to the CH 7 Website, so those of you from outside Colorado can check it out as well. Read More & See Air Times

| OUR NEW AWARENESS PROJECT |
|
CALLING ALL COLORADO RESIDENTS! We have been working with the folks at the Colorado State Department of Motor Vehicles to get our application in place for a new specialty license plate for PREGNANCY AND CHILD LOSS AWARENESS!
WHAT WE NEED: In order to process our application, we must present 3,000 signatures of support. These signatures must be from legal residents of CO, whose info can be verified by the DMV (they will spot check the forms). There is no other committment made when you sign, your signature simply shows your support of the application.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Download a signature page and collect signatures for us. You must then mail the original form back to us and we'll add it to our application. Each page has room for 50 signatures, but we can accept less per page. So, please help out!
Thanks to Jen Mayes for developing this initiative and for spearheading this exciting awareness project.

SHARE YOUR STORY - BE PUBLISHED ONLINE!
|
|
Do you have a healing story to tell?
If you've spent any time on the RTF website, you'll have read some of the essays about my personal experience of loss and healing, finding meaning, and making connections. Part of what makes these essays so popular is the moment when you read something that speaks to your own feelings. Perhaps articulating a thought that you previously thought was your own. Each of us will travel this road of grief in our own unique way, but there is a large part of this experience that we all share. You are invited to submit your healing story for inclusion in the RTF website. Read More and Submission Guidelines

GIVE WHILE YOU SHOP - ALL YEAR LONG |
|
Online Shopping means DONATIONS to RTF!
Did you know you can support RTF while shopping online, at no additional cost to you? That's right! We're registered with Amazon.com and iGive.com as charities that can benefit from your shopping (all year long).
Amazon.com - Simply click the link from our website to and shop to your heart's content. All purchases must be made during that visit to Amazon, saved items in your cart will not count.
iGive.com - By following the link to iGive, you'll be invited to register at iGive.com and choose RTF as your chosen charity. Once you do, you'll be prompted to download the "shopping window" which is simply a tiny box that pops up when you are at an iGive shopping site (the gap, lands end, barnes and noble, etc) to let you know your purchases will count toward a donation to RTF.
There are so many charities that deserve your time and attention, and so many that exist solely because of your donations. Please consider these methods of donating to RTF. It is a small thing to do, and because we are 100% volunteer, every penny counts!
