Before and After - Reflecting on life after loss.

Although I have experienced the loss of several people who were close to me, it is the loss of my daughter that marks the most dramatic pivot-point of change in my life. This is not to say that my days are consumed by my grief and the loss of Rowan. They certainly used to be, but they are not anymore.

The Secret Club Project: Artists on Pregnancy Loss is an international project featuring more than 40 artists exploring miscarriage and other pregnancy-related losses, including infertility, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, and stillbirth. Rowan Tree Foundation is proud to be hosting The Secret Club Project's art exhibit for the month of September 2006.

We are looking for a sponsor to help defray the costs of bringing this exhibit to our city. If you or your company would like to BE OUR EXHIBIT SPONSOR, please contact us to discuss the details. We are excited to offer this art exhibit to the local community. It has been our experience that sharing loss in public ways can be healing as well as educational.

We are now accepting registrations for our upcoming golf tournament. Golfers may register online, in the mail using our mail-in form, or by telephone. Space is limited, so please make sure to get your foursome registered early!

We are seeking Event Sponsors! If you or your company has an interest in sponsoring our event at any level, we want to hear from you.

Sponsorships start at $250.

Each sponsor will receive:
  • Logo placement on our event shirts!
  • Logo placement in our golf event programs!
  • Logo placement in our memorial event programs!
  • Signage on location for the day of the tournament!
  • One year free advertising on our website!

Journeys: Stories of Pregnancy After Loss - by Amy L. Abbey

Pregnancy after loss is a harrowing and nerve wracking experience. Once you have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or as an infant, the world of pregnancy takes on a completely different look. The blinders that we wore are stripped away and the innocence that we enjoyed is gone. In the past, we might have been able to face the anticipation of a pregnancy with such hope for the future. But when a pregnancy or a birth ends with the death of your child, those happy and blissful images of pregnancy disappear forever.

Happy Birthday Rowan Tree Foundation! We just turned one year old! So many wonderful things have happened in one short year, and we are making a difference in the lives of people who have lost a child. We have big plans for our second year, and hope that you find many ways to be a part of this with us.

September is going to be a big month for us - the SCP art exhibit and the golf tournament will hopefully have something for everyone. We are also planning our first annual Memorial Service in December - stay tuned for more on that.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback on whatever you'd like to share. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
