a Race to the Top winner! Rhode Island is one of 10 winners in the second round of the federal Race to the Top program, it was announced today by the U.S. Department of Education.
We congratulate the literally thousands of people who worked diligently on this effort spearheaded by Education Commissioner Deborah Gist and the Rhode Island Department of Education.
The true winners are the students and educators of Rhode Island who will benefit from the $75 million in federal dollars to improve their schools and to close the achievement gap.
Other winners announced today are Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
