Building and maintaining strong board engagement; practical advice from the field

Limited space is available for Board Engagement, the next workshop in the Fidelity Investments Board Development Program. Sign up now for this unique learning experience for nonprofit board members and mark your calendar for Tuesday, May 18, 8:30-11:00 a.m., at Child & Family in Middletown.

In this program, we will address the following common governance challenges and questions:
  • Whose job is it to create an engaged board: the executive director or the board chair?
  • How do you assess the effectiveness of your board? What about the effectiveness of individual board members?
  • How does a board handle the problem of a disengaged member? What if there are a number of high profile but disengaged members on the board?

Our presenter, Michael Daigneault, is a senior governance consultant with BoardSource and provides corporations, large and small businesses, nonprofits, professional associations, and governmental entities with state-of-the-art and cost-effective governance and facilitation. He promises to provide practical advice from the field that will help your board to attain the highest level of engagement.

This workshop is designed for board members. However, if you are an executive director who would like to attend, you are more than welcome to do so with at least one board member from your organization.

The registration fee for this workshop is $50.00 per person. Visit our website to register for Board Engagement. If you have questions, email Candice.

We look forward to seeing you on the 18th.

Planning ahead: Intentional Board Diversity on June 1

This workshop, which follows Board Engagement in the Fidelity Investments series, recognizes that most nonprofits seek board members who represent the constituency they serve; yet their boards lack diversity in terms of race, age, gender, socioeconomic status, and/or skills. In this workshop, Denise Barge of Barge & Associates will present strategies to help your nonprofit attract and retain a diverse board membership.
