Foundation contributes $100,000 to Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund
Foundation President & CEO Neil D. Steinberg
 | Today, The Rhode Island Foundation donated $100,000 to the newly created Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund (RIFRF) at United Way of Rhode Island in response to massive flooding caused by a series of severe storms last week. The fund has collected more than $500,000 from local corporations and stakeholders in its first day.
The money raised will be used to help cover those expenses not covered by FEMA, private insurance, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. One hundred percent of the contributions made to RIFRF will go back into the community. A committee of community leaders - chaired by Donald C. Anderson, executive minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, and including Anna Cano-Morales, associate vice president for grant programs at the Foundation - will determine how the dollars are distributed.
