Governor Carcieri appoints Keith W. Stokes to Foundation board of directors
Governor Donald L. Carcieri has appointed Keith W. Stokes of Newport, newly named interim executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, who is currently on leave from his position as executive director of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, to serve on the Foundation board of directors. The Foundation's by-laws stipulate that one director be appointed by the governor.
Foundation Chairman David M. Hirsch expressed his enthusiasm for Mr. Stokes' appointment, noting that, "Keith Stokes has an outstanding track record of service to our state. Beyond his leadership of the Newport Chamber, Keith has championed a number of important causes and has been a major force in improving the climate for business development in Rhode Island."
Foundation President and CEO Neil D. Steinberg concurred. "Keith's business acumen is matched by his commitment to public service. We are indeed fortunate that he is joining our board."
