107 Foundation-funded projects to address community challenges throughout Rhode Island
From school drop-out prevention to job training and from coordinated health services to improved teacher quality, projects supported through 2009 Strategy Grants, the Foundation's largest discretionary grant program, will tackle a myriad of challenges facing Rhode Island.
A total of 107 innovative projects designed by nonprofit organizations throughout the state are receiving more than $4.5 million for education, health, human services, community and economic development, arts and culture, and environment.
"With our limited resources, we have a responsibility to be strategic about our grant investments," said Neil D. Steinberg, Foundation president and CEO. "Thousands of generous Rhode Islanders continue to entrust their philanthropy to us, and we take seriously our commitment to achieve the most positive outcomes throughout the state while balancing the need to be responsive to immediate community challenges."
