At age 31, Brian McMullen is no newbie to network marketing. McMullen started his network marketing business at age 18. During that time, he was working as a furniture mover, unloading furniture in the back of trucks for $10 an hour.
"I had a rough childhood, I barely graduated from high school and was kicked out of my house and had no choice but to work in fast-food restaurants when I was just 14." McMullen recalled.
"I know what it's like to be down and out, I know what its like to sleep on pavement, and I know what its like to pray not to live anymore, its not so much that I'm standing tall, it's that I'm even standing. I am grateful to be alive and to live through horrible times, I feel I can be a great strength to those who know that deep inside they too can be someone great, if only someone would believe in them," he shared.

Adrian Chenault is a college senior and will be graduating in about a month. "I have been spending a lot of time lately trying to figure out what I am supposed to do when I finally get a degree."
My passions are Jesus, people, and finance, and sometimes I have struggled with feeling like they are mutually exclusive. This year, more than ever before, I have been confronted with the incredible needs of people all over the world. While of course I have been aware of this in the past, it seems that lately we are inundated with opportunities to meet the needs of our global neighbors; and yet I was content to sit on the sidelines.
The past few months, God has awakened a new passion in me for utilizing my gift and passion for finance to meet the needs of people. I discovered microfinance, a concept that helps impoverished people to take hold of their finances by providing them with small, un-collateralized loans to start small businesses and be able to reap the residual benefits of their labor rather than simply subsist on a day-to-day basis. The concept, pioneered by recent Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, is an incredibly powerful means to give people a stake in their own future.
This summer, I have been given the opportunity to help in this regard. I will be traveling to Kampala, Uganda to work alongside a pastor who mentors a number of Ugandan men in hopes of raising up a generation of leaders who follow Jesus. Through my time there, I plan to help put on a business conference to help local people to have the courage to pursue their own business ventures, and I plan to work with local microfinance groups to provide support for their mission in the area. In addition, I will be meeting with Pastor Gerald's "mentees," some of whom are in the Ugandan parliament, and hopefully sharing with them the inspiration and encouragement of Jesus. In order to get there I need to raise $2,600 for the trip.
