to expand in Williston

United Pulse Trading plant in Williston, ND.Oct. 28, 2009 - The Williston City Commission approved a request for a Flex PACE loan to United Pulse Trading Inc. with a Star Fund interest buydown during its meeting Tuesday evening.

United Pulse Trading held a grand opening for its Williston pea and lentil processing plant in July. It is seeking the Flex PACE loan and Star Fund dollars for a proposed expansion to its facility. Read More.

Oct. 22, 2009 - After a handful of years, Williston's Frontier Equipment has outgrown its current location just off U.S. Highways 2 and 85 west of Williston.

A new building that literally doubles the overall space for the Case IH dealership is going up just east of its present location. Read More.

Sept. 30, 2009 - North Dakota and Montana are major agriculture states, but it's strange to only have roughly 10 percent of the state's food that is sold in stores to come from local sources.

Coming to the elevator in Sidney were Takehiro Fujiwara, senior manager, and Koji Noguchi, manager and research chemist, for Nippon Flour Mills in Tokyo, Japan.

They told Nortana's general manager Rondel Beery that they currently receive durum from Canadian sources. They used the durum for pasta and macaroni. Read More.
Carbonics announces Culbertson revival

Oct. 5, 2009 - NEW YORK--Carbonics Capital Corporation (OTCBB: CICS) announced today that the liquidation of inventory at its Culbertson, Montana-based oilseed crush facility ("Culbertson") is complete.
 
Culbertson was previously unable to renew its working capital line of credit during the second half of 2008 and was therefore unable to complete its purchase of delivered oilseed inventory. Culbertson later cooperated with the Montana Department of Agriculture and the North Dakota Public Service Commission to liquidate and pay for the delivered crop.  Read More.

Oct. 12, 2009 - The Montana Department of Agriculture has successfully completed efforts to pay farmers all of the money owed for delivery of their 2008 safflower crops to Sustainable Systems LLC, an oilseed processing plant in Culbertson, Mont.
 
Farmers in Montana received payment totaling $654,507 from proceeds of a Montana commodity dealer bond, the sale of cooking oil and other commodities, and cash that customers owed Sustainable. Read More.
Harvey-Organic mill company expanding

Oct. 28, 2009 - HARVEY, N.D. (AP) -- A flour mill company is spreading out in Harvey. Earth Harvest Mills held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.

The federal Agriculture Department's Rural Development director, Jasper Schneider, said three loans through the agency provided $2.2 million to help the company get started. He said two of the original loans have been paid in full.  Read More.

Emerging weather pattern could break California's drought

Oct. 24, 2009 - Meteorologists anticipate a moderate El Niņo will bring drier winter weather to the Pacific Northwest and wetter weather to California, possibly ending a three-year drought there.
 
El Niņo is characterized by ocean temperatures about 2 degrees above average across the central and eastern Pacific Ocean, which makes it a weaker event, said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center Deputy Director Mike Halpert during an Oct. 15 press conference.
