The Georgia Alliance To End Homelessness  Inc. is proud to announce it is accepting nominees for the:

SEVENTH ANNUAL HUMANITARIAN AWARDS CELEBRATION

People exhibiting outstanding service to the homeless and impoverished community will be recognized with the following awards:

The 2012 Bridge Builder Award

The 2012 Essential Piece Award

The 2012 Robert Vincent Smith - Volunteer of the Year Award

 

The GAEH Humanitarian Awards seek to identify and recognize individuals  and organizations in the State of Georgia that are outstanding models of service, collaboration  and leadership.  Award recipients are those who are involved in innovative or unique programs. These programs support and assist homeless people with exceptional service provision that ultimately strives to end homelessness throughout our state.

 

Nominations for  individuals or organizations that demonstrate any of  the following characteristics are welcome:

  • Individuals and/or organizations that model a system of  best practices and leadership in accordance with universally recognized standards of excellence.
  • Implements an innovative service delivery system partnering staff and volunteers or persons that are homeless.
  • Has overcome obstacles, and takes risks or has made sacrifices in the pursuit of finding a long term solution to ending homelessness.
  • Educates and collaborates with others in their communities concerning issues of homelessness and poverty.
  • Demonstrates measurable outcomes and has shown a significant impact on their community.

Eligible nominees include individuals, community groups, non-profit and not-for-profit agencies and organizations, companies, schools and faith-based groups located in the State of Georgia whose efforts support homeless people. Their ultimate goal should be to provide an end to homelessness in Georgia. Please describe in detail on the nomination form how the nominated individual, organization or group has exemplified the eligibility characteristics.

Nomination Narrative:  Please describe in detail the activities and service of the individual, organization or group that you are nominating and how they meet the following characteristics:

  • Modeling a system of best practices and leadership in accordance with universally recognized standards
  • Implements an innovative service delivery system partnering staff and volunteers or persons that are homeless
  • Has overcome obstacles and takes risks or has made sacrifices in pursuit of finding a long term solution to ending homelessness
  • Educates and collaborates with others in their communities concerning issues of homelessness and poverty
  • Demonstrates measurable outcomes and has shown an impact on  their  community

Include in your narrative how the nominee's service addresses the following:

  • Obstacles, challenges and/or risks the nominated individual or organization faced in carrying out their service
  • Collaboration used by the nominated individual or organization to mobilize or educate their community
  • What resulted from the individual's or organization's service ? (How many people were impacted ?   What community or organizational changes occurred as a result of their service ?, etc.)
  • Were homeless persons directly involved in the planning, implementation and delivery of the program or service and how?
  • Were other community members and volunteers incorporated into the program or service and how?
  • Were there any innovations or unique strategies used or developed in the delivery of the program? (describe)
  • Was a model created to serve the homeless and ultimately bring an end to homelessness in our State? (describe)

 

Please be specific in responding to the above questions. We ask that you limit your nomination narrative to three single spaced pages.
