The Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness envisions an end to homelessness in the State of Georgia. GCEH was founded in 1989 by a group of dedicated homeless advocates who saw a need to help those individuals who had no place to turn.
Through collaborations and partnerships with other concerned individuals and organizations GCEH has grown to include over 1138 service providers throughout the state. For more than 15 years, the Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness has been helping people identify and obtain permanent and transitional housing, emergency shelter, employment and find education necessary to become self sufficient.
Even with all this support there is still much to be done.
· Shelters in Georgia can only house 50% of Georgia's Homeless.
· 48% of homeless families are working at jobs that pay less than a livable wage.
· Georgia's shortage of affordable housing is a major cause of homelessness in our state.
