Doing business in China: A risk analysis

A culture clash over Confucius Institutes

The website for the Beijing-based Confucius Institute, which was established by an arm of the Chinese Ministry of Education known as Hanban, says there were 80 U.S.-based Confucius Institutes as of October. Hanban provides start-up money - about $100,000 at Nebraska - plus instructors and the opportunity for host sites to apply for more money. This year, Nebraska received $270,000.
