Bahamasair is making it easier to reach the beach and other island attractions. Travelers now can book nonstop flights between Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Grand Bahama Island (FPO). In addition to convenient, nonstop service, U.S. Customs and Immigration will pre-clear passengers before departing the Bahamas. The service will be operated twice weekly (Thursday and Sunday) and begins on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Click here for more information and to view current fares.

Derby at Louisville International Airport

Derby is the busiest week for Louisville International Airport as guests from around the world travel to our city for the fastest two minutes in sports. To ensure our guests feel welcome, the airport decorates the terminal with approximately 2,000 roses, musicians play in the rotunda and volunteers greet arriving passengers with Woodford ReserveŽ bourbon balls.

If you're picking-up guests, take time to enjoy the live music and shop for official Derby-related products at the nearby Churchill Downs specialty shop.

Parking is only $1 for less than an hour in the Under-4-Hours area of the parking garage. If you don't have time to park, you may wait in the free, short-term Cell Phone Waiting Lot (accessible from the upper/departure level roadway), which is just a minute away from the lower/arrival level curb.

TSA Security Checkpoint

Just as highways are busier during rush hours, TSA's security checkpoint is busier during peak departure times. At Louisville International, those peak periods are daily from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Because of the sheer number of passengers departing within these periods, we encourage passengers that have flights departing during these times to arrive at the airport 1˝ hours prior to departure.

For travelers' convenience, the TSA security checkpoint at Louisville International is now open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.  For more Travel Tips, visit www.tsa.gov
