For Our Friends Age 50 and Better    Winter 2012
Larry D. AdlerGreetings!

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the number of seniors is increasing faster than younger populations. Every 8 seconds, someone turns 50 and each year, more than 5.5 million Baby Boomers turn 55.  This will be the first time in history that people over age 65 will soon outnumber children under age 5.

We may be aging chronologically, but we are approaching our mature years much differently than any previous generation.  In fact,  many of us will continue to work and enjoy an active lifestyle. Life expectancy is at an all time high and declining mortality rates are also contributing to lifestyle changes .

Those of us who are age 50 and better have different needs and interests than other generations. That's why we created this special newsletter. Read on. I'm sure you'll enjoy the information and articles we've compiled and find them useful.
I'm looking forward to hearing your comments. My direct line is 847.941.0217 or email me at LDA@weltmanbernfield.com.

A Flash From The Past
A Blast From The Past
1985...It Was A Very Good Year!
The Bears won the Superbowl...the first version of Windows --1.0!--was released and my commercials started airing on TV. If you were in Chicago back then, see if you remember. And if you can tell who the announcer is!

Twenty seven years ago, I was also developing relationships with clients who I am proud to say are still with me today.

Paul Finamore, CEO of Hairline Creations and I go back even further ...35 years.

Bernhard Woodwork, LTD  and I have also been working together for 35 years. Herta Bernhard is the CEO there.

For over 60 years, Screw Machine Engineering Co., Inc. has been a part of my family. For the past 35 years, Richard Baumgart  has been my client.  Rich is now the president of the company. His dad was my father's first accounting client in 1952.

It takes time to develop a relationship and I appreciate the trust my clients--long time and new--place in me.

Thank you all for the opportunity.

"Larry's proven himself time and time again. He's been a great advisor to me and my family. It's rare for me to keep an advisor for so many years, but I trust Larry and his advice."  --Paul Finamore

"I'm not his client...I'm his friend! We work well together.  I can trust him; he's honest and he's always stood up for me. He's a really good man." -- Herta Bernhard

"We're a second generation company.  Larry's been doing a fantastic job through the years.  When you're doing a good job, there's no sense in changing anything." --Richard Baumgart

What Do All the Initials Mean?

Each of the designations after my name demonstrates that I have experience to help you with your accounting needs.

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA),  I have passed  examinations and undergo additional education each year to stay current in the field. This is especially important to you, as a consumer, now that the IRS has new regulations for paid tax preparers.

The Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) credential focuses on serving the needs of seniors. It means I've taken specialized courses to understand the financial, health, and social issues that seniors face.
