Choosing the Right Communications Equipment

Someone say something, write something, make a call, mail a letter, leave a message, send an e-mail message, text, fax a fax, ...And then it happens, communication; Someone answers, he replies, she calls back, they respond, we ...communicate. The telephone is our most popular communication device, allowing us to "reach out and touch someone". However, businesses can't rely solely on the phone for communication in business. Businesses need to take advantage of the many different types of devices available.

Compliance Alert for Providers Operating as Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities
The Florida Medicaid program does not enroll or reimburse for the services performed by an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF). Medicaid policy allows physicians practicing in an IDTF to enroll as a physician group so that they may only bill Medicaid for the professional component when services are rendered at the IDTF. Florida Medicaid does not reimburse for the technical component or global fee for services performed by an IDTF.

When a physician leaves one practice and goes to another he/she is almost always faced with the question - Do I purchase prior acts coverage from the new carrier or the extended reporting period (tail) coverage from the insurance company he/she is currently insured with?

The Federal Communications Commission has recently approved the use
of wireless medical devices that monitor and read patients vital signs wherever the patient is located, whether at the hospital or at home. Theses sensors, referred to as medical body area networks (MBANs), wirelessly send vital information over protected broadband that will be free of interference from Wi-Fi and other high-powered consumer devices.

How Consumer Tech Could Enhance The Health of Patients

Most of us are too young to remember the days when doctors would make house calls. Those days for the most part are long gone. But with advances in consumer technology that could soon change. Imagine you are ill and need to see your doctor, the last thing you want to do is get up, hope you can get an appointment and go wait in a doctor's office where an already overwhelmed doctor might only be able to give you five or ten minutes. This is where consumer technology could help.

ratingOnline Physician Ranking Websites: Friend or Foe?

Are those pesky online ranking sites a thorn in your practice's side? Or, are they quickly becoming one of your highest referral building boosters? Or, are you completely lost with no clue what I'm talking about?

Importance of a Friendly Staff

When was the last time you called your office and tried to set up an appointment? When did you last sit in the waiting room simply to observe what the experience is like from a patient's perspective? If you're like a lot of area doctors, you probably haven't done that anytime within the past, oh, ever.

A college physics professor was explaining a particularly complicated concept to his class when a pre-med student interrupted him.
"Why do we have to learn this stuff?" one young man blurted out.
"To save lives," the professor responded before continuing the lecture.
A few minutes later the student spoke up again. "So how does physics save lives?"
The professor stared at the student for a long time without saying a word. Finally the professor continued. "Physics saves lives," he said, "because it keeps the idiots out of medical school."

Dan arrives at the private hospital in Mexico and is rushed in quickly for surgery after his appalling car crash.

The operation goes well and, as Dan regains consciousness, he is reassured by a nun, Sister Mary, who is waiting by his bed.

Now, Dan, you're going to be just fine,' says the nun, gently patting his hand. 'We do need to know, however, how you intend to pay for your stay here. Are you covered by insurance?'

'No, I'm not,' Dan whispers hoarsely.

'Then are you able to pay in cash?' persists Sister Mary.
'I'm afraid I cannot, Sister,' say Dan regretfully.

'Well now, do you have any close relatives?' Sister Mary questions sternly
'Only my sister in Puerto Vallarta,' Dan volunteers, 'But she's a humble spinster nun, like your good self.'

'Oh, I must correct you, Dan. Nuns are not spinsters: we are married to God.'
'Wonderful,' explodes Dan happily, 'In that case, please send the bill to my brother-in-law.'
