We at Dynon are getting ready for summer. It is going to be a busy one, with lots of new product activity. We are working on the next SkyView firmware release, support for the Rotax-912iS, new SkyView videos (see below), and maybe a surprise or two. We hope to see you at one of the shows. -RobertRobert Hamilton - Dynon Avionics

New SkyView Videos
We are working on a new series of videos, called The Dynon Channel. The first three are: SkyView Architecture - An introduction to the components of a complete SkyView system, including the SkyView displays, ADAHRS, Engine Module, autopilot servos, ARINC-429, GPS receiver, and network hub.SkyView Version 3.3 Firmware - Includes audio voice alerts, enhanced user waypoints, and new GPS data windows. Updating Databases, Firmware, and Configuration Files - This video walks you through the SkyView Setup Menu and the process of loading new firmware and periodic Aviation and Obstacle data.View of of these videos at: http://dynonavionics.com/docs/SkyView_Video.html Rotax 912iS SkyView Support
We are working on a summer release of a new SkyView SV-EMS-221 Module, which replaces the SV-EMS-220 for installations that include a Rotax-912iS engine.
The SV-EMS-221 receives many of the engine parameters directly from the 912iS engine computer via its new CAN bus interface. Engine parameters available from the 912iS engine computer include RPM, manifold pressure, oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, EGT for all four cylinders, ECU voltage, and engine hours. All the other normal SkyView SV-engine functions are still available using the SV-EMS-221, such as fuel level, trim position, battery voltage, and contacts. And of course, Dynon's support for Rotax's dynamic oil temperature and RPM operating limits will be available in the 912iS just as it is in the 912ULS.
A new 912iS-specific engine sensor kit that includes the engine wiring harness, a Kavlico fuel pressure sensor, and an amps shunt will also be available.

Factory SkyView Classes and Oshkosh SkyView Classes
The SkyView hands-on classes have been very popular. We will be holding classes at Oshkosh and at the factory during the Arlington Fly-In. If you own a SkyView, or are thinking of one, here is your chance to become an expert.
Oshkosh classes will be held in the Hilton Garden Inn hotel adjacent to the airport, July 23rd - 28th. The air-conditioned hotel conference room offers comfortable seating and a classroom-like environment with a full audio/visual presentation. Classes are structured with limited seating to ensure no more than 2 students at each SkyView display. We will hold one class per day, with 3.5 hours for basic and VFR, and a 1 hour bonus for IFR.
During the Arlington Fly-In July 11th - 14th, classes will be held at our facilities near Seattle, WA, about 30 miles south of Arlington. Included with the classes will be tours of our manufacturing operations.
To cover the cost of conference room space at Oshkosh events, the classes are being offered at $30 per person. The factory classes will be free.
Advance ticket purchase is required through "Brown Paper Tickets", an on-line event ticketing service. Even the free classes require signing up via Brown-Paper.
Tickets are available at:

Tech Support Tips - How to Expedite your RMA |
Help Dynon Help You with Repairs
Hopefully you will never need your Dynon product repaired, since they have a history of excellent reliability. If you do experience a problem be sure to contact our Tech Support staff, Mike and Steve, to see if they can help you resolve the issue without having to send the unit in to us.
If a repair is needed, Dynon has a defined process and database to help manage repairs quickly and efficiently. Please contact Tech Support directly at support@dynonavionics.com, 425-402-0433. (Dynon's Online Forum is not a good way to handle communications about repairs.)
Before you send a unit in for repair, you must contact Dynon Support to start a Return Material Authorization (RMA) which assigns a unique number. Dynon's RMA system tracks all the repair information during the entire process and automatically emails you with shipment information.
In setting up an RMA, via phone or email, Dynon needs the following information:
- First and last name
- Company or Organization (if applicable)
- Phone number
- Email address
- Shipping address (that we will return the unit to)
- Unit that requires repair (S/N helps, but is not absolutely required)
- A detailed, complete description of the problem
During the repair of your unit we are sometimes unable to confirm the problem that was reported. In such cases, a detailed problem description can make the difference between the problem being confirmed and repaired, or the unit being returned as "No Fault Found" (which is frustrating for everyone).
Repair flow at Dynon is generally ten (10) workdays after we receive the unit - much of that time is spent performing a complete test and calibration cycle just like a new unit receives. If you can't wait ten weekdays for your unit to be repaired (such as a failure while on a trip), Dynon can "Cross Ship" a replacement unit in advance (the replacement unit isn't a "loaner", it is a permanent replacement). Replacement units are 100% tested and are in the same condition as new units, and continue the same warranty as your original Dynon unit. We will ask for your credit card information, although we we will not charge it unless we don't receive your old unit back within 30 days.
Everything sold by Dynon is warrantied (length of warranty varies.) If you are requesting service or replacement under warranty, we request that you provide proof of purchase within the warranty period. Once a unit is out of warranty Dynon charges a flat $250 repair fee.
For International customers, it is best if you contact the dealer you purchased from to help you facilitate the logistics of shipping for the repair.Dynon does not pay any customs duties or other fees, but we will work with our dealer to have items returned as warranty or repair items to minimize duties.
Thanks! Mike and Steve Dynon Tech Support
