Webinar # 1

Life Insurance Management in a Trust Setting

Many Trust Owned Life Insurance (TOLI) Trustees struggle with the processes and steps that need to be established with the management of life insurance policies. Life insurance is a peculiar financial product, and determining what is "best" for clients in a particular situation is a vexing problem. This webinar provides a background of life insurance policy types along with considerations (advantages/disadvantages, etc.) for each type of policy. It reviews the methods (suitability/criteria) to develop best practices for life insurance purchases and replacements. It also provides guidance to the trustee for the steps that must be taken for managing policies, including proper documentation to mitigate trustee liability.

Webinar # 2

Dealing with Stand-Alone Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts

Standalone ILIT's are a particular challenge to the TOLI Trustee.  Since these accounts are devoid of a strong client relationship they are often difficult to handle. With limited business opportunities they present more liability issues than opportunities for today's trustee.  This webinar will provide ILIT trustees with insight into the steps they should follow to maximize profitability and minimize liability when dealing with this asset class.

Webinar # 3

ILIT's and the Grantor Trust Rules

The grantor trust rules are among the most favorable provisions in the Internal Revenue code.  They allow a grantor to interact with his or her irrevocable trust free of income tax consequences, while keeping the property out of his or her taxable estate.  This webinar will inform a trust administrator how to determine whether an Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust is a grantor trust, and the consequences and benefits of grantor trust status.
