Back to School Prayer
Dear Lord, as we begin this new school year, we gather
once again as your community of believers.
We thank you for the energy and the spirit that you renewed
in us through the summer months.
We thank you for the time to enjoy our family and
friends and to reflect on what is important in our lives.
Let this year be marked by enthusiasm and love so that,
with the inspiration of your Spirit, we may continue
to grow in our faith.
Help us to fulfill Your hope for us with honest intentions
and works of faith.
Let us be gentle with ourselves and bring laughter, joy
and love to others.
We ask this in your name. Amen.

| Student Achievement
This past summer Holy Name Senior, Vincent Pacifico attained the rank of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts of America. He is now oficially an Eagle Scout with Troop 101 of Auburn. In brief, his project consisted of designing, building and erecting Bat Houses in the town of Auburn to attract little brown bats. This would benefit the town because bats eat mosquitoes which are responsible for transmitting West Nile Virus.
We congratulate Vincent on this great accomplishment.

To all in the Holy Name Family:
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we send this newsletter. In a few short days all of our students and teachers will once again occupy the classrooms and halls of Holy Name for the start of another exciting school year.
Please know that all of us meet this year refreshed, energized, and committed as always to the Gospel mission given to us by our Lord, Jesus Christ. To best fulfill this role, we have all been engaged in activities and work to make everyone's experience at Holy Name even better than before.
Mr. Manzello, Mr. Evans, Mrs. Hughes, and countless other people have worked very hard this summer to make amazing improvements in both the building and grounds. Mr. Penza and Mrs. Hughes have once again worked to expand the access to the wireless network through the WHOLE school as well as continue on their efforts to improve the computers available to all in the building! Mr. Dube has worked to create what we all know will be a very much appreciated space for our seniors during their senior privilege period by constructing a deck off the library!
Our summer office staff has been busy creating schedules, hiring staff, ordering supplies, and interviewing and registering new students, all in preparation of another year at Holy Name.
Our wonderful teachers have been busy preparing for the next academic year by finding new ways to inspire and educate all our students.
We wish you all God's blessings as you close your summer with your family and friends. We look foward to working with you this school year to learn, grow, achieve, excel, inspire, and love an care for one another.
God Bless You and Yours,
Mr. Reynolds, Headmaster

General Announcements
Below you will find a letter that is being sent to all parents and guardians about the changes to the Student Handbook for this school year. Please pay special attention to the changes in policies regarding tardy arrival at school and the attendance policy in general. Please note that starting this year, STUDENTS MUST BE IN HOMEROOM BY 7:30 a.m. OR THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED TARDY!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Holy Name Central Catholic Junior.Senior High School for the 2012-2013 academic year. Each student has been given a copy of the Student/Parent Handbook 2012-13. We ask that each parent/guardian and the student read this edition of the Handbook to understand the rules and regulations that apply to every student who attends Holy Name. We also ask that the students return the signed Student/Parent Handbook Agreement form by September 13, 2012.
While reading the Handbook, please note that changes have been made, with significant changes made to the following sections: Academic Probation, Academic Schedule, Absences, Tardiness, and Early Dismissal.
For Academic Probation, found on page 10, please note that a student may now also be placed on academic probation after the first quarter of the academic year.
For the Academic Schedule, found on page 14, the late bell for homeroom will now ring at 7:30, not 7:35.
For Attendance, found on page 15, Holy Name has reverted back to the Diocesan Policy that a student is entitled seven absences per semester, after which a student will not receive academic credit.
For Tardiness, found on page 15, a student is entitled to three tardies per marking quarter, after which a student will be sent home from school.
For Early Dismissal, found on page 16, a student is entitled to three early dismissals per marking quarter, after which a student will be sent home from school.
If you have any questions regarding these changes or any aspect of the Handbook, please do not hesitate to call me at 508-753-6371.

DRESS CODDE AND UNIFORMS 2012-2013
Changes
1. Pants
Both Boys and Girls pants (khaki, navy, black, and grey) may be purchased directly from retail stores, such as: Macy's, Sears, Lands End, Old Navy, and J.C. Penny
Both boys and girls pants must be Dockers-style, which means no cargo pants, painter pants, stretch pants, skinny pants, low-riders, pants with rivets, or Capri pants. Pants should fit comfortably and mirror the uniform pants currently worn by Holy Name students. Pants always need to be belted.
2. Shorts (khaki)
Both boys and girls have the option of wearing uniform shorts which may be purchased only from J.B. Edwards Uniform Co. These shorts must be worn with shoes and socks. The shorts may be worn only during the warmer months of September, May, and June.
We have also made the sweaters optional as some students find it too warm to wear a sweater. We certainly encourage the wearing of the v-neck sweater during the cold months. No other sweater or item may be worn over the uniform shirt.
3. Skirts
Girls skirts, purchased from J.B. Edwards Uniform Co., come in two new styles: an A-line skirt in khaki or navy and a wide-pleated plaid skirt. Skirts bought in previous years may still be worn.
4. Senior sweaters
Seniors only may purchase from J.B. Edwards a cardigan sweater in black or white or a pullover jacket-style top in Columbia blue.
Holy Name Polo shirts and Holy Name V-neck sweaters must still be purchased at J.B Edwards Uniform Co. These items are essential components of the Holy Name uniform.
J.B. Edwards has relocated to 65 Southbridge Street, Auburn, MA 01501 (508 792-2071) or visit them on the web at: http://www.jbedwarduniforms.com/jbedward/
