NEW CATHOLIC RADIO STATION TO SERVE THE DIOCESE OF WORCESTER
Emmanuel Radio

Emmanuel Communications was formed in 2008 when a small group of Catholics, led by Raymond J. Lauring, answered the call to start a Catholic radio station in Worcester, Massachusetts. The group prayed a Divine Mercy Chaplet for discernment before deciding to form Emmanuel Communications and worked tirelessly for three years before its first radio station went on the air. The founding, and current, trustees are Raymond J. Lauring, Michael Grimes and Mark A. Lauring. Also instrumental in the founding was the board of directors whose members include John P. Lauring, Bishop Daniel P. Reilly, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Worcester, and John J. Spillane, a Worcester attorney. The trustees also are members of the board of directors. Along with the directors, Emmanuel Communications' advisory board is very involved in the growth and development of the organization. Members of the advisory board include Father Daniel J. Becker, Margaret M. Russell, Steven Rust and Christine Toloczko. Emmanuel Communications purchased radio station WNEB 1230 AM in January 2011 after being in talks with the previous owners for several months. That same month, Nick Everett was hired as general manager of the radio station. Emmanuel Radio became an EWTN affiliate in February 2011. On May 1, 2011, 1230 AM Emmanuel Radio graced the airwaves of the Worcester area. It was Divine Mercy Sunday and the day Pope John Paul II was beatified. Emmanuel Communications had chosen Blessed John Paul II to be the patron for its first radio station.

To all in the Holy Name Family:

As we now find ourselves in the special liturgical season of Lent, let us all take time to focus on our personal relationships with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We often spend our time during Lent with a focus on our Lord Jesus Christ because it is his passion that the season of Lent brings us to.  However, while this is clearly central in our lives as Catholics, let us not for get that our Catholic faith is founded on the belief in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  During Lent let us all remember that we need to draw closer to all members of the Trinity.  Spend some time praying to all, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as our relationships with all are critical in fulfilling our roles as disciples.

May you all have a blessed and reflective Lenten season,
Dr. Audette
