Holy Name Central Cathholic Jr.Sr. High School Receives Full Ten Year Re-accreditation!

Holy Name Headmaster, Mr. Edward Reynolds, recently received notification that the school has earned re-accreditation for the next ten years.  This level of re-accreditation is the highest level awarded by the accrediting body, The New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

We would like to thank all in our school community that played a significant part in obtaining this re-accrediation: Our students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, alumni, and friends.

The visiting committee expressed that they were totally impressed with all aspects of our school, especially our students and our total community committment to our mission to live the Gospel values taught by Jesus Christ.  We thank God, our Father, for all the blessings he has bestowed on our wonderful school and all of us, for without him, none of this would be possible.

Also, each visiting committee member was given a token gift basket with items that helped them get to know us as  a school.  We were honored that one of our excellAlex Dube Presenting Artworkent student artists created her own representation of what was important at Holy Name.  We thank Alex Dube, grade 11, for her hard work and creativity that allowed our school to shine in one of the many ways we did during the accreditation visit.  Here Alex is pictured presenting the school with a copy of her artwork which will hang outside of Mr. Reynolds' office.

super bowl 2011Football Team Makes it to the Division II Super Bowl!

Congratulations to our Varsity Football Team and Coach Pucko and his entire coaching staff for making it all the way to the Division II Super Bowl.  Although the team did not prevail against an outstanding and undefeated Nashoba team, our Naps played their hearts out and left it all on the field.   Congratulations to all our players especially our seniors:  Kevin Langlois, Sean Zuromsky, Nick Capuano, Jake O'Donnell, Anthony Hodges, Raj Dhami, Devin Davenport, Paa Kwesi Biney, Chris Greeley, Jon Morris, C.J. Ellison, Brian Owaka, and Seamus O'Sullivan.  Thanks for making this a wonderful season!

Our New Food Pantry Needs DONATIONS!  Please HELP!

Holy Name's new food pantry needs your help.  One of the ministry programs is the establishment of a food pantry at Holy Name to help anyone in need from our school and neighborhood community.  In order to fulfill our mission we need your help in filling our pantry with donations.  We are asking for donations of all types of healthy, nutritious non-perishable foods.  We have several donation boxes throughout the school and we ask the support of the greater Holy Name School community to help us with our food ministry program.

Christmas Concert Dates from the Music Department Featuring the Dedication of the Joseph Burke Center for the Performing Arts!

Christmas Concert Schedule 2011

The 23rd Annual Christmas Concert series will be held on Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm and Wednesday, December 14th at 7:00pm. Students who are members of the Band or Chorus are entitled to two free tickets. All prepaid tickets are $5.00. Tickets purchased at the door are $8.00. A special afternoon concert is being offered for grandparents and senior citizens on Friday, December 9th at 12:15pm. No tickets are necessary for this concert.

Wednesday evening, Dec. 14th, will also be the dedication of the Joseph Burke Center for the Performing Arts.  Mr. Burke, a long-time music teacher at Holy Name, retired in June.  As a way to honor him, a number of his former students came forward with the idea of dedicating the auditorium to him.  When he retired last year, Mr. Reynolds, Headmaster, said of Mr. Burke, "Mr. Burke has built this music program at Holy Name into an inestimable point of pride for the school. Countless students, regardless of musical ability or experience, have been brought into the fold with music at Holy Name, and Mr. Burke has provided a clear, Christian role model for these students. His music room is an example of all we try to be as a Catholic community; it is a welcoming, prayerful place where kids are inspired to reach their potential."

We invite and encourage all former students and friends of Mr. Burke and the Holy Name community to join us for this very special evening!

We hope you join us for one of our concerts.

NOTE: For the Sunday concert we will host a reception for our audience and all chorus and band members. All chorus members please bring in a plate of baked goods, some fresh fruit or veggies, or another holiday finger food. All band members: If your last name begins with A-L please bring in one bottle of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail - 64 oz. All band members: If your last name begins with M-Z please bring one 2-liter bottle of Polar Sparkling Lime flavored water.

Reminder on the Attendance Policy

On the day of a student's absence from school, parents or guardians should notify the office between 7:00 and 10:00 A.M. If a call is not received during these hours, an office staff member will call to verify the absence. If a student is late for school on more than three (3) occasions during a month, he/she will be required to serve a two-hour detention with the principal. Failure to serve detention for tardiness may result in additional consequences, including a Saturday morning detention. Early dismissal is granted to a student who has presented written permission from a parent or guardian for a serious reason, specifying time and reason for dismissal. Early dismissal slips are issued at the office before homeroom. Before leaving the building, the student must report to the office with the dismissal slip. If he/she returns to school, the student must again report to the office before going to class.
