DONE DEALS™

WBEs, here's your chance to nominate those who have helped you along the way! You have the opportunity to nominate for two different Done Deals™ Awards.

Nominations are due September 28.

Sustaining Champion Award Description & Criteria:

The Sustaining Champion award goes to an outstanding individual (executive, buyer or supplier diversity professional) employed by a Corporate (Sustaining) Member company, who was instrumental in securing business for a WBCS WBE. The Sustaining Champion introduced the WBE to the appropriate decision-makers within their company and identified the right fit for her business services and/or products, helped secure procurement opportunities for the WBE, acted as a guide and mentor on the journey to doing business with the corporation and played an active role along the way.

Women Working Together Award Description & Criteria:

The Women Working Together award recognizes an outstanding Done Deal™ between WBE members of the Women's Business Council - Southwest. Emphasis will be placed on the "story" behind the deal (i.e., details behind the initial meeting, negotiating and deal-signing, contribution of each party, why doing business with fellow WBEs is valuable). This deal should highlight the importance of WBE to WBE business opportunities.

Awards will be presented at Power to Potential on November 6.

View the newest Done Deals™ - business being done between WBCS members.  Have a deal you want to submit?  Login to your account and give us the scoop!  All information will be approved by both parties prior to publication.  If you need assistance logging in, please contact Monica Runion

How do you ensure your consumers memory of your company is what you intend for the brand?
We will take a step back to the work of psychologist Carl Yung and embrace the stories, emotions and personas that shape our unconscious memory.

Kirsten Cutshall, president of Steel Branding will discuss how your organization can use Archetypal Branding to guide its marketing decisions and align your organization to create a brand that people are passionate about. This presentation will introduce the core principles of Archetypal Branding that ensure customers identify, relate with and, ultimately, remember your brand the way you want it to be remembered.

The Evolution of the Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Certification

The WOSB Federal Certification through the Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 2011 to provide greater access to federal contracting opportunities. The Program allows contracting officers, for the first time, to set aside specific contracts for those women-owned businesses that are WOSB or EDWOSB certified. This Program assists federal agencies achieve the existing goal of five percent of federal contracting dollars being awarded to WOSBs.

So it's mid-year of 2012, how has the WOSB Program evolved?

Linda Nelson, SBA, Arkansas District Director, will share with us the following and much more:

  • How many women businesses are WOSB certified?
  • What benefits have they achieved with this certification?
  • Where do the federal agencies stand relative to their five percent goal?
  • Will this certification help my business?
  • Where is the Program going in 2013?

We will also have representatives from the Clean Line Energy Project to talk about their Plains & Eastern Clean Line Project in Arkansas and what projects are available to certified women business owners.
