The Evolution of the Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Certification
The WOSB Federal Certification through the Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 2011 to provide greater access to federal contracting opportunities. The Program allows contracting officers, for the first time, to set aside specific contracts for those women-owned businesses that are WOSB or EDWOSB certified. This Program assists federal agencies achieve the existing goal of five percent of federal contracting dollars being awarded to WOSBs.
So it's mid-year of 2012, how has the WOSB Program evolved?
Linda Nelson, SBA, Arkansas District Director, will share with us the following and much more:
- How many women businesses are WOSB certified?
- What benefits have they achieved with this certification?
- Where do the federal agencies stand relative to their five percent goal?
- Will this certification help my business?
- Where is the Program going in 2013?
We will also have representatives from the Clean Line Energy Project to talk about their Plains & Eastern Clean Line Project in Arkansas and what projects are available to certified women business owners.
