In the latest WBENC President's Report, WBCS members, Cyndi Hopkins of Dell, Nancy Minchillo of Hewlett-Packard, and Kathy Homeyer of UPS, are named in the Top 25 Women in Power.
Tom Trotter Receives Award. Tom Trotter of IBM, received the President's Gold Volunteer Service Award recognizing over 1,000 volunteer hours in 2011. Trotter also received this award in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. In addition, Trotter was presented with the President's Call To Service Award recognizing his cumulative achievement of over 7,000 hours.

Business Insights give small business owners and corporations information on current business trends, quality networking and potential procurement opportunities between women business owners and corporate purchasing representatives.
This event will spotlight a panel discussion for WBEs and Corporate (Sustaining) members titled Set Your Sights on the Lillie Knox Cash Award, featuring members of the Lillie Knox Award Selection Committee and past recipients of the Lillie Knox Investing for Growth Award. WBEs will gain clarity around the application process and how to position their company for top consideration while Corporate (Sustaining) members will learn how to support the growth of women business enterprises through this important initiative.

| Each year at the Harvesting Partnerships Lillie R. Knox Memorial Luncheon, an award of up to $5,000 is awarded in Lillie's memory.
The recipient(s) are certified-WBE member(s) of WBCS who has identified a critical need in her business that, if met, will support the growth and development of her business. The cash award may fully (or partially) fund this need and may include, but is not limited to, equipment purchase, technical development or upgrade, consulting services, strategic planning, Web site development, planning or education.

MINDFUL WOMEN RECAP

The topic at the June 14 Mindful Women Discussion Series was Coaching vs. Consulting? ... a topic that caused a lot of buzz among participants that evening. A panel of experts explained the differential between the two and dispelled some common myths around coaching.
Additional questions emerged during the table discussions and these were also thoroughly addressed by the panelists. Those in attendance received valuable resources and links (post meeting) that will help them make a business decision.
The Mindful Women Discussion Series is a WBCS semi-annual event, hosted by Brinker International that is gaining popularity among WBCS members. It includes a relevant business topic featuring industry experts. Stay tuned to this publication or the website for news on the next Mindful Women Discussion Series.

ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING (ACE) LUNCHEON

On Thursday June 21, 2012, Shanna Cates with the Trinity River Vision Authority, spoke about the master plan for 88 miles of the Trinity River and its major tributaries in Fort Worth.
More than a decade in the making, the master plan was conceived by volunteers and community leaders, and adopted by city, county and state officials. The most well-known of all Trinity River Vision projects is the Trinity Uptown/Central City, an urban waterfront community to the north of downtown Fort Worth. | | The 2012 Tuck-WBENC Executive Program:
One Week Leads to Years of Growth
The annual Tuck-WBENC Executive Program, brought to you by IBM will be held September 30 through October 5, 2012.
New this year, the program will be held at the IBM Learning Center in Armonk, N.Y.
The Tuck-WBENC Executive Program is an intensive, five-day executive development program for WBENC certified Women Business Enterprises (WBEs).
It is an intensive learning experience that focuses primarily on increasing the competitive advantage and robustness of the participant's own business. Up to 50 WBE attendees will form a learning community that will continue to provide a source of support, expertise, opportunities and strategic alliances long after graduation.
The curriculum includes finance, marketing, operations and service while incorporating a collaborative learning
environment.
Applications are due by July 13, 2012.

EXHIB-IT! B2B Expo
The fifth annual EXHIB-IT! B2B Expo was a great success with close to 600 in attendance! Held at the Agave del Sol Event Center, exhibitors from the business community and supporting organizations, such as the WBCS, had a great chance to meet prospects and generate leads.
It was great to see our WBCS Members and Partnering Organizations in attendance, such as Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and Integrated Technologies Corporation. We are grateful to DJ Heckes, EXHIB-IT! Trade Show Marketing Experts, for holding such a valuable event. We are looking forward to participating in 2013!
